The Year 2000 Canada Silver Maple Leaf with dragon privy is nearly impossible to find and is sold out at most dealers who specialize in silver maples. Lake Forest Coins has them on their website but they are fairly expensive. These coins can sometimes be found on eBay for less but none are currently listed.

Thanks for all of your help guys! The Privy i am looking for actually has a "Y2K" privy stamp, it too was minted in 2000, but my understanding is that the mintage is only 9999.....

I never even heard about a Y2K privy maple until I did a google search. According to a German website, this is a little known issue:

Privy Mark year 2000 (1999), 5 dollars, 1 ounce, 9999 fine silver, Privy Mark of Y2K (not specified in the catalog) Mintage: 5,000

Most other privy maples have mintages around 25,000 so this one is truly rare.

This thread really got me thinking... "Why haven't I ever heard about or seen a Y2K Privy Maple?" I can't find any official record of it's existence and every dealer who carries privy maples does not even mention this one.

I found a German Thread on this exact topic and based on my limited German skills, it appears that this coin might simply be a normal 1999 issue silver maple leaf that was countermarked by a private firm with a so called Y2K "privy". The privy mark is incuse which supports this theory. In addition, true privy maples normally have a proof finish instead or the bullion "proof-like" finish as seen in the photo above.

If this is indeed the case, I doubt the coin would carry much of a premium over a "non-counterstamped" 1999 maple.

I only wish that were the case...

It is an official Mint release, i have seen 3 in the past year on ebay, they usually bring between $160 and $190, they are a real mint issues from the Canadian mint......with a mintage of 9999, they seem to be VERY hard to get!

You may be right about the 5000 coin mintage! They are VERY rare and hard to get a hold of!
