Thanks to HduffMark1 for the banner!
and while we're on the subject of SM1, would you care to explain why you ban people like Autobilia (who never said anything remotely negative about PSA) and pandrews , while you continue to allow anonymous trolls to run rampant and badmouth PSA and other collectors?

Autobilia got banned?? For what?

link to the "Autobilia banned" thread. i think the original thread is in the first post.

Actually, I didn't ban Autobilia so I have no idea as to why his account was terminated, I guess that you would have to ask him. As for Mr. Andrews, when he chooses to send a rude PM to me regarding one inappropriate thread that was deleted and to then post 7 threads shortly thereafter to clog the board whining over his missing thread prior to me sending a response, then aufwiedersehn!. To then come back within minutes under another account and pull the same stunt, again.goodbye! This ain't Romper Room.
As for the anonymous trolls, when they cross the line, they go. It's difficult to be proactive when they haven't done anything wrong. I mean, should I delete the account of a member who has expressed a desire on another collector's site to leave these boards with a "Bang"?
What do you say GR?

i didn't really pay attention to the whole story involving Perry or Autobilia. i was just basing my opinion on secondhand info and hearsay. from what i heard, Perry got pissed that his '84 Ralston/Purina thread was pulled. do i think he had a right to be mad that his thread was pulled without explanation? yes. do i think he crossed the line and dealt with it in an immature manner? absolutely. i THOUGHT he was banned for bringing up the Ralston/Purina issue [for those of you who don't know the story- PSA used to grade these, but when it was discovered that they were only available in uncut sheet form (or it was impossible to distinguish between sheet-cut cards and non sheet-cut cards- i don't remember the exact story), they stopped slabbing them]. that is why i was questioning the decision. if he was banned for being a jackass, so be it. he knew the rules, and the punishment was justified.
i don't know the story about Autobilia- nor do i really want to read 17 different threads with 634 different opinions about the subject.
i think that in the future, a lot of the complaints would cease if a simple explanation was given. for example, when a thread is pulled or someone is banned, pin an "official PSA response/explanation" and lock the thread. let people hear your side of the story. i've seen many complaints about the way PSA handles things- i.e. deleting threads and avoiding problems. and most times, people always think the worst- that PSA is guilty, regardless of the circumstance.
just my two cents.
To set matters straight, it was not his Ralston/Purina thread that was the issue but one stating that the company that manufactures "Twinkies" (The staple diet of card collectors) had declared bankruptcy. No biggie if it stayed on the board, but there would have been the inevitable complaints from members so I merely tried to get a little proactive and save a few folks having cardiac arrest over an OT post.
As for a "reasons why" on CU's part, that would just stir up more threads, both pro and con, as you'll find that nearly everyone has to express an opinion and there is no question in my mind that such a situation would just clog the boards with more junk. Please remember that the card sector is only a part of the CU picture, and with 15K members, 1000's of posts every day, it becomes a thankless task to maintain a modicum of sanity when things get a little out of hand. Sometimes, it would be nice if people could act and behave like decent human beings, instead of becoming the selfrighteous, crusading, or trouble making characters they become when protected by being anonymous behind a computer keyboard. At the end of the day, it's just a message board and life really is good.

This weekend, I booted a guy with 6 posts, each one pitching for a price, his secrets on how to feel packs for jersey cards etc.
His posts were deleted and so was he. Do we need an inquest and autopsy as to why he got the heave-ho?

no. most bannings are self explanatory and justified.
but there are always controversial bannings and thread deletions where no one knows the whole story. most people only hear the story of the poor guy who was booted, not PSA's side. and that's there the complaining starts.
i think SGC has a separate section of their messageboard giving reasons why posters were banned. i don't know if it would be a good idea for PSA to add something like this, but it might help alleviate some complaints
