<< <i>Just wondering if anyone has any good stories from the Fort... >>
As I was building the Fort tonight, the refrigerator box that I found in my neighbor's yard collapsed. The other boxes and couch cushions are still in place, but my fort will require a little rebuilding. That's my fort report for the night!
Just got back from the fort. It was my first show ever (just back in to collecting). Lot's of stuff, most of it overpriced relative to SMR. Saw Mr. Mint walking around and at his booth which has nothing but giant pictures of him holding wads of cash. I walked up to a booth and was amazed at one paricular display case that had piles and piles of Mantles from every year in all grades. Quite a few 52 Topp's, a bunch of 51 & 52 Bowmans, it was really cool. I looked up to see who it was, Levi of course. Overall a lot of very nice high end materiall with extremely high price tags. I don't know if it's just me but I saw a lot of tobacco cards (T206 etc.). I was surprised at the amount of raw stuff that is available. You can get some nice deals if you're willing to spend the time searching. I picked up a 52 Bowman Nellie Fox GAI 5.5 for $50 & a raw Ed Lopat that is pretty nice for $30. I'm going back again tomorrow to see what else I can find and to pick up an MJ Roop box. Take care.
Great show as usual. Setbiulders (norty) had some nice fresh stuff as he usually does. 1960 Herb Score ......$8 1971 Jim Lonborg ......$7 1969 Mike Shannon.....$2 Hot dog and soda .......$5 Look on Frank Bakkas (FB) Face when he got to setbuilders table and there wasnt an empty chair to be had .......PRICELESS
Just curious - do show dealers try to pass off cards graded by gem, pro, csa, etc. as the real thing like so many dealers do on ebay?
I'm just asking because I've seen some of that garbage at shops recently. I would've thought that the customers at shops/shows would be too savvy to buy that junk...I was very surprised to see it in the dealers' cases.

JEB - You've always had issues with fort building.
Like that time you tried to build a fort out of PSA slabs,
and the whole thing ended up toppling over on you. Remember ?
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
