Have you ever found a 71-S peg leg IKE in a blue pack?
Just wondering if anyone here has ever found a 71-S peg leg in a blue pack or are the one's you've found already slabbed? I'm turning blue looking thru blue packs.

I also bought one raw for $6.00 but it was not in a blue pack. It is currently slabbed by ANACS as MS63 Peg Leg.
I found one in a Blue Pack that I paid $5 for. I have searched about 1,000. It is probably MS62.
The other I bought in the Blue Pack as a Peg Leg for about $100. It is now PCGS MS65, but not designated as a Peg Leg.
<< <i>Well, that gives me a little hope of finding one. Back to the blue packs. >>
I found one in a blue pack that graded ms 64 at pcgs. i must admit that i went through every ike at several shows before finding
this coin !!
They are at least 20 times more difficult than a 1972-p type # 2 !!
also, i have never found anything that would grade above ms 65 !!
a ms 66 coin would command a hefty premium, if one could be found !!
of the variety until about the last 300 and would probably have missed it before.
<< <i>Do you ever tell anyone what your looking for? Or, do you keep it your litle secet?
People rarely ask me, but I'm always looking for gems and any varieties.
Oh well...
<< <i>I've probably looked at about 500 of the blue packs but unfortunately I wasn't aware
of the variety until about the last 300 and would probably have missed it before.
Cladking,
The left leg on the letter "R" is missing the serif, and looks like a pirates " PEG" LEG". Also, the serif at the top of the letter " y " is missing the serif on the left.
In addition, the hair pattern is different, in god we trust is different,
and the coin actually looks like a combination of two seperate dies.
I have looked at every ike, at every show, and have gone to many, many shops, and have found only a handfull of this variety.
The 1972-P Type # 2 is easy to find, compared to the 1971-S business strike.
The average so far is about 2500 to 3,000 ikes per peg leg !!
