If we all stopped collecting cards from players who cheated on their wives there wouldn't be much collecting going on. Go ahead and sell those Jordan rc's if thats the case. I thought from the beginning that girl was after $$ and by her not wanting to go ahead with the criminal trial but still wanting to go through with the civil case just shows that

btw i will still collect his cards and have no shame in that. I would never cheat on my wife but i do understand that NO ONE in this world is perfect and that we all make mistakes and we should be taught to forgive people for their mistakes

Sorry Dave, but we can agree to disagree. After hearing the so called apology from Kobe, makes me even more angry at him. If it had been you or anyone else you would be in a jail cell today. I for one expect more out of people I look at as hero's, both off and on the court. And, I don't own any Jordan's either, lol.... He may be a great player, but his arrogant behavior and horrible role model to kids will never be acceptible to me, and you know this wasn't the first time, just the first time he got caught. The way that girl was treated was dispicable, and easy to see why so many women are afraid to press charges, very sad.

I don't know if you are asking me or Mike, but mine is the same as that of Magic. In the long run they pay for that behavior in one way or another, and certainly aren't role models for kids or men in general. I guess Kobe just thought he was following in Laker tradition, lol... It's a shame that some treat it so lightly tho and think it's no big deal to lie and cheat and buy your way out of trouble. Thank goodness there are still some good guys left in the sport that kids can be proud of.

It's too bad about the kobe case, because if he really did that crap to her like I think he probably did, I was really hoping to see him go to prison. At least for 5 years, long enough to screw up his basketball career. A lot of these guys have had they're a-- kissed by everybody since they were just little boys, training for the NBA since they were like 5, That girl probably said no to Kobe and he was like, "No, hmm, interesting, thats a word I've never heard before, now pipe down so I can finish up and kick you out of here."

I have a feeling it's only gonna get worse.

Does anybody really think that if that woman hadn't blown the whistle on Kobe that he would have went home to his wife and said, "Oh Vanessa, I screwed up and I'm so sorry and I promise it will never happen again." - Not a chance!

Anyone who says Kobe's accuser was only out for money obviously has never seen the torment the victim goes through at one of these trials. While Kobe was out, being praised for his ability to put his court proceedings behind him and go out and play a game in the evening, he was living his life as normal. The victim, on the other hand, was in seclusion, in hiding, because of the numerous death threats to her because of her accusations. Hmm...the accused is applauded while the case is being contemplated, while the accuser has to live the life of a recluse because of ignorant 'fans' who felt Kobe's playing was more important than her life.

Also, if you've ever actually witnessed the incredible stress that the victim goes through at one of these trials, well, it isn't pretty. The entire strategy of the defense team is to tear her down....emotionally she would have been wrecked even more so than the actually incident would have. Her entire life would have been strewn about as if it were nothing more then refuse for the defense to go through and wear her down over and over until she broke.

Let me ask those people who felt she was only after the money; if Kobe was so 'innocent' as you all claim him to be, if you felt that she was only after a payday, why did he pay her off? Why didn't he go through with the trial, and let the court show him to be innocent? To me, it screams out he wanted to shut her up with a paycheck. If he truly was innocent, then he never would have agreed to pay her a dime.

I am glad that his sponsors have wisened up and dropped him from their endorsements. He is a poor character for anyone to emulate.

Is it that farfetched that a ballplayer with many millions of dollars is falsely accused of a crime ? Do you people actually think this sort of thing has never happened before. Even friends of the girl who attended college with her have come out and said that they definetly question her motives. And these are people who actually KNEW the girl.

I've heard so many stories about Kobe, and I don't think i've ever heard a good one. He is a jerk. Why do you defend him, he don't care jack about you or any of his other fans. All he cares about is his money and himself, it's sad really. Just because he can score 25+ points in an NBA game his life is so much more important than everybody elses, if thats the kind of person you want to adore, more power to ya.

As a former victim of assault, and the assailent having money and a prominent job, I know all too well what happens....I was criticized for filing charges and felt the shame that goes along with it, so that is why I feel credible for my reaction. I was not paid a penny for what I went through, tho it was offered. My case wasn't as high profiled as what that girl went thru for sure, but I know how she felt. Even tho I wish she could have gone thru with the trial, I can understand why she didn't. It must have been horrible having her enitre life scrutinized, while Kobe's past antics were kept hidden in secrecy. How and why could other women come forward on her behalf when they saw what was happening to her. This episode has set back womens willingness to report assaults and rapes sooo far

. I got the satisfaction of seeing my assailent go to prison. It's a shame that she didn't get the same chance. I too praise the companies that have chosen not to do business with Kobe, and hope he and his gold digging wife enjoy their stinking money while they can, cause his name and reputation are mud.....

Yes, why didn't he? If he's the saint you paint him to be (and we all know he isn't....as saints don't cheat on their wives...and this certainly wasn't the first time he's cheat on her), why didn't he stand up in court, and let justice be served against her if these allegations (you claim) to be so baseless? I find it ridiculous that anyone would think he's innocent of this crime...if he truly was, he would have pressed on.

Do you think it was also coincidence that her name was 'accidentally' leaked to the media by the prosecution? How fair is it to her that as the accused, she had to go into exile for fear of her own safety, while he reaped the glory of being such a 'hero' of balancing his courtroom appearances with playing a game?

This case typifies all of what's wrong in this country; if you have money and fame, you will never see the inside of a jail cell. Jayson Williams should be doing life in prison; Kobe should be doing 25 years; O.J. should have seen the death penalty; but hey, you got some money, you got fame, you don't have to worry.

I for one am sick to death of these Kobe backers justifying what he did. He's filth who doesn't deserve to walk the streets as a free man; yet he does, and will make untold millions to do so. What disappoints me most about this entire ordeal is the way that he's been made out to be the victim in all this. People coming to say that he was only accused because he was a black man, and most of Eagle County, Colorado is white. It sickens me that anyone would rush to defend him.

And the worst part of all this? I am sure he's most saddened by the loss of the millions in endorsement money....and not by the harm his actions have inflicted upon his family or that girl.

Funny how plenty of other athletes have the morals and strength to not be tempted by "these women". They know what they are doing and are not the innocent babes in the woods, lol. I also know that they think their money and fame and give them the feeling that they can do anything they want and get away with it. People don't say "no" to them, so for a young woman to say no when things went too far, didn't sit well with him. It is so obvious that he knew what he did was wrong, just look at his apology.

Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. He didn't want it to go to trial anymore than she did cause he knew the evidence against him was damaging, but go ahead and keep defending him. He's not worth talking about anymore to me. There's a big difference between 'innocent' and 'not guilty'. Kobe is not 'innocent' in this case...merely not proven guilty. The irrepairable damage done to his image will cost him millions...and deservedly so. If Kobe were truly, truly sorry this happened, then he'd take a good chunk of that $100M+ payday and use it for helping battered women...something to show he's remoreseful for his actions. I'm sorry, but a simple 'I'm sorry' then trying to take it back just doesn't cut it in my eyes.

There's always gonna be people that will support these players no matter what they do or how they act just because they've got a mean dunk. Does anybody really think Kobe cares about anything besides Kobe and his wellbeing? I would really suggest not spending too much money on his cards, because he's always gonna have this black cloud over his head. I don't see any upside to collecting him anymore.

One of these days I would love to see one of these star athletes pay for their crime, and don't nobody say Rae Carruth because he wasn't that good. Had he scored a few more touchdowns he'd be walking the streets too.

We could find a reason not to collect any player.

IE: Someone won't collect anyone who was on the 2004 olympic team, because they didn't bring home the gold and don't feel they are good role models. They also won't collect anyone who declined to go and play either, because both things don't make good role models in their opinion.

No matter what, people are going to pick and choose who they collect for their own personal reasons, whether it be money, favorite player, or favorite team. No one is perfect and although everyone has their own personal problems, whether it be known or not, people will still collect them.
