For many years I coordinated the coins issued by Hutt River Province, and a few years ago I visited there and met personally with Prince Leonard and Princess Shirley. Lovely people. The most famous issues were 45 different coins commemorating Operation Desert Storm. There is a great web site picturing all of the issues -- just google "Hutt River Province Coins" and you should find it.

The answer to the PCGS question is yes, PCGS does certify their coins.

The Hutt RIver Province has formally renounced their declaration of independence and reassimilated into Australia. ABC (Australia) news article from 3rd August 2020: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-03/hutt-river-province-dissolves-into-commonwealth/12518898

Australia never recognized Hutt River's independence. The current and former princes never paid Australian taxes since 1970, and having lost a court case arguing they didn't owe Australian taxes, the mounting tax bill finally bankrupted them.

This does, of course, mean "the book is closed" on future HRP issues; it is now possible, for anyone so inclined, to "collect a full set".

The only HRP coins I have are a 3 piece set of coins commemorating Bill Clinton's inauguration. There is a silver coin, a cupronickel coin, and a 1/10 ounce gold coin. I picked it up years ago on ebay from someone who was selling overstock/surplus/returns. I think the set coist me about $35, which was in the vicinity of bullion value. I sure wish I bought more back then.

The family was ordered to pay $3 million in income tax, penalties and interest to the ATO in 2017 after losing a Supreme Court battle.

In the US, the way around that is to simply claim you have no income, just huge losses!
