1 bat 36" long, cut in 1/32" width: 1152 slices. 2-8 pieces/slic(ave 4) 4600. Minus sawdust...
1 Jersey: I don't have a jerset to measure, so I used a dress shirt (considerably smaller): Torso 30" tall X 24" wide X2 (front and back)=1440" square Sleeves 22" long, 8" wide X2 (front and back) X2 (2 sleeves)=702 inches square Total 2142".
I figure a jursey would be 50% larger=3213"square (assume each piece is 1"square=3200 pieces (most pieces are smaller)
Those would be my guesses. This is why I could not figure out what was going on with the UD Mathewson jersey. They started cutting one up and put 60 into 2001 Legends on NY. Didn't put any more into packs intil 2003 SP Legendary cuts. Odd. They had a few thousand left over pieces...
According to articles in Beckett, about 800 (for some seriously cracked bats) to 1200 pieces from a bat, and 1000 to 1500 from a jersey. Pants are at 800 to 1200 as well.
