Yeah I mean with one every 90,000 packs they are just everywhere- not like he is the greatest basketball player ever or anything.
  • $4,000 for any autograph card is overpriced. Put that sucker on ebay and see what its really worth.

Hmmm, by your description is it card # 38/50? image

    ebay Jordan auto

It's a cool card... Becketts BV's on older cards are WAYYYYYY out of date though. Look at the sales of these more current cards and their BV's in Beckett... The patch books $1,400 and that is one sweet a$$ patch and it only sold for 2/3 current Beckett BV. The SP Signature was just used to show what you can get other Jordan auto's numbered to /50 for.

Jordan Auto/Sweet patch 03-04 SP Game Used /50

03-04 SP Signature Jordan Auto /50

I still have inserts that book for $30 in Beckett but close for .99 (and usually without bids). I bought a Yzerman insert from '97 with a Beckett value of $400 for $14 on ebay 3-4 months ago. Beckett is full of crap on BV's... Oooops, sorry for ranting.

    Again, nice card anyways image

  • dirtmonkey - You can't fairly compare 2003-04 products with rare 1998 ones. Nowadays Jordan has a ton of autos and no matter what they are numbered to, they can't match up with the older ones. It's not even comparable between a card which is much easier to obtain [such as 2003-04 products] to one that is 1:90,000 packs, hand numbered to 50, and in 1998, there weren't nearly as much autograph sets as there are today.

    Nice card Allen!

Yeah but still. This Jordan ain't worth $5,000. It's been on eBay like 50 times (from the same seller) who can't get any bids at $999.
  • I say you should book a card at twice what it sells for on ebay because usually people will pay half of the book value. If you can't get bids for $999, its not even worth $2,000. Thats pretty much how the card market works. It really is a nice card, being Michael Jordan and all but it should book $1500 tops.

Old doesn't mean anything. Most of the packs those cards came from were overproduced crap for $1.99 a pack at the most. Now the new stuff is a lot more expensive for packs. Take the 2 I mentioned. SP Game Used packs are usually about $30, which would be like buying about 15-20 packs of that old crap. So in essense, I'm sure the odds are comparitively similar if you factor in pricing/ratio... Fact of the matter is, a "/50 auto" is still just a "/50 auto" no matter how many packs you needed to open to obtain it... I'm not saying the card isn't nice because it is, but I'd take the Jordan patch/auto I posted over it anyday and the BV on that is only a third of what that is supposed to be. JMO

  • dirtmonkey - Then by your theory, if you bought 15 packs of the older stuff, it would equal one GU or auto equal to one from SP GU? That's a pretty good ratio for older products. SP Game Used is not nearly the same, because for every pack you are guaranteed a GU or auto. In the older packs, especially since the odds were 1:90,000 packs, that is not nearly as easy to accomplish.

Then there would be no point of price guides. I hate when you trade and people "But mine sells for so much on ebay anfd yours only sells for so much on ebay" I mean is some cases like Iverson and Reggie Miller autos yeah I can see that making sense but on a $15 auto for a $15 rookies it is pointless. I am pretty sure this is a nice card and I have not seen too many around. I would rather have a nice Jordan auto from his Bulls days when he was the man and won championships than a sad Wizards Jordan jersey auto that is a piece of warmups that jordan likely has never seen before. I felt bad when he was a wizard and missed game winners and scored 4 points and bricked all-star dunks. I would rather have an "original" Jordan auto. Thats just me. I guess you are mad cause I pointed out your Vick SOTT was not the cheapest on eBay and was talking about how I didn't get the point behind your manning buyback that was signed to start with.

Me? WTF are you talking about? Must be somebody else you're talking about... Anywho, I'm simply saying these two things. The auto is nice... No arguements. Never said it wasn't. But Beckett is full of $hit and price guides don't mean much anymore. Here's the reason. Beckett says a card books for $4000. If it sells on ebay for $1000, then they are saying it sells somewhere else for $7000 because they say their prices are averages of all sales. But no one is going to pay $7000 for an auto that books for $4000. So prices basically have to drop and Beckett doesn't reflect that. I think Beckett can be useful for initial pricing on new releases, but they obviously are out of touch with older products. And as I said, an auto numbered to 50 is still only an auto numbered to 50, no matter what. I do agree some auto's carry more weight if they are within a set because of the set makers, but I think Beckett is a joke. When a person says a card normally sells for 20% book, that should translate to the card only booking for a lower percentage. I sell most of my GU for 75% OFF Beckett. Why? Because that's all it normally pulls on ebay. I occasionally sell them for around 50% of Beckett on the sites, but rarely. And they don't sell for full price at most shows either. So where does Beckett get their values? Think about it...

Well then would you say that Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Kirby Puckett, Wade Boggs, Ryne Sandberg etc. rookies should book $1-$2 because if you look you can get them for as little as $1.
  • Im wasn't mad at you at all but it just seems like instead of private messaging me you would rather worn off other viewers that theres a better deal out there. It would be one thing if I saw that BIN at $85 and still posted best deal but come on you can private message me about it.

    Thanks

If the average sale price was $1-$2 everywhere, well then yes that would be what I am saying. If Beckett truly got their book values by sales averages, then consider this...

Beckett has a game used that books for $10. A $10 game used can normally sell for $2-$3 (if it sells at all) on ebay. Then you go to your local card shop. Most that I deal with would have that card for sale for between half and 2/3 Beckett value ($5-$7). Go to a trade show... Usually they sell between ebay sales and the card shop sales ($2-$7). Now as far as private sales which usually go unreported, most people still use Beckett as a guide and MOST would never pay more than Beckett price for a $10 GU. So on average, the sale price of this card is between $2-$10. Now if Beckett honest takes the average sales of these, doesn't the Beckett value have to drop? The avearge reported sales would put the BV more around $6.
THEN, the cycle would restart. Prices would almost always be dropping as Beckett is a means many use to determine sales and most people will never pay full BV anymore and certainly never over BV. They almost always pay a lesser percentage, which would create a continually dropping market... Did you pay $4000 for the Jordan? Of course not. Let's guess you paid $800 as the other on ebay never sells at $1000. That would mean for Beckett to have the card priced correctly (average sales), someone else in the word is paying over $7000 for a card that Beckett only has at $4000. Is that happening in todays market? LOL, hell NO. So explain to me how Beckett means jack.

Funny you should point out this auction. This seller has had this same card on ebay on at least thirty separate occasions.

$1500 is too much for that card, as no one has ever bid on the card.

    Still a nice card though.
