Home World & Ancient Coins Forum

Let me introduce myself

Some of you already helped me on the test forum, thanks for that image

My name is Philip and I am a collector from Bulgaria. I collect world coins, mostly from the last two centuries. I try to specialize in Sweden and Switzerland (no Swaziland though image), although that is difficult given the fairly limited opportunities over here.

I have only seen two slabs in my life image

I have been reading this forum for about a month and have started to really like it. image

And, no, due to postal atrocity don't expect a giveaway soon image

Welcome! You will find spirited discussions mixed with shared triumphs and losses, joking, and general fellowship. We can all learn a lot from each other. I know very little about Swiss coins and even less about Swedish ones.

  • Welcome, Philip!

Where in Bulgaria are you? I've been to Sozopol, Burgas, Nesebr and I really liked those towns.

Btw, the Basel piece is stunning, if I see one like that here, I would declare it a certain counterfeit...image

Welcome aboard, but watch out for that Open Pit! image
  • Thank you all for the warm welcome. Unfortunately, I don't have regular internet access over weekends, but I'll be back on Monday.

Sumnon, it's the central post office over here that specifically forbids sending coins in a letter. I have a friend from another city in Bulgaria that does excessive trading and I am quite jealous about that. I have to check my local branch, but being cautious is an understatement image

  • MacCrimmon, the Open Pit currently consists of approximately 50,000 coins from 1801 to present that I aim to collect. So far I have about 4,000. Still a loooong way to go, especially with German States image

    Welcome aboard.

I collect many world coins back to the 1700's and most of them from the last half of the 20th century.

Do you have much interest in the later date Swiss pieces and do you find them difficult to acquire?

  • Thank you once again for the warm welcome.

Unfortunately, the post problem is here to stay (a matter of policy) but I may waste one day trying several branches to see if it's going to work out or not. Not these days, though - it's -10 outside now image

I don't have a doubles list (almost all doubles were gone a couple of months back flooding a starting collector image) but once I decide to plunge into trade, I'm going to announce that I accept want lists image

  • Cladking, in fact I do find difficulties with many modern coins. Many people just exchange them for cash and no one really stocks them. I already cleared the inventory of the dealer with whom I .... erm, deal, and now it's increasingly difficult to locate "ordinary" stuff.
