    probably no more than a silver eagle would be today, but you never know what might show up there.

    What I mean is the British Mint didn't ever intend to issue a circulating crown of this type? Were the Gothics just made for presentation pieces?

    They were originally intended as archery targets, but they were too small, the arrows didn't penetrate them properly, and the longbow was pretty much obsolete by that time, anyway.

    Just proof pieces that numbered 8000 total for the only two years of mintage, 1847 and 1853. This one doesn't look too bad but I would ask for better images. Unfortunately for this one, the scratch on her cheek will classify this as an impaired piece. Still nice though...you gotta love 'em...image
