PSA Grading Question - 1951 Bowman Mantle

What is PSA's guidelines as far as the following example:

A 1951 Bowman Mantle that looks like a PSA 5 from the front but has about 90% of the back torn away.
Until the card is turned over, you would never know there was a problem.
Will PSA grade this card and if so, would it ever grade higher than PR-FR 1?
Sorry, I don't currently have the card available to scan.

Thanks for the help. So it sounds like PSA will definately grade the card even with so much of the reverse missing.
2 more more quick questions:
Is there any chance PSA would not grade it assuming it's authentic?
Would it generaly be considered more valuable graded or not graded.

I think that any Mantle card that is authenticated, regardless of grade, is more valuable than an ungraded card in similar condition. Anyone disagree?

A 1951 Bowman Mantle slabbed as a PSA 1 should garner you $1,000+.

That was my point - a similar ungraded card would be received with some suspicion as to authenticity, thus, selling for less.

Exactly! At $1K or more the obvious question is why didn't the seller of this unslabbed card spend a lousy twenty bucks to allay my fears?

wow; what would the grade of this card be: 1951 Bowman Mantle that looks like a 5 on the back but has about 90% of the front torn away? If it gets a PSA 1 , then it would be coceivable to turn one psa 1 card into 2 .... and double your money

Read the initial post again. You've got it backwards. A card with 90% of the front gone is not going to be graded (I would assume?).

PSA would probably give it an AUTH grade. If it is that crummy it might not get a PSA 1
