POLL: Do you like tape on your toploaders?

Personally...I hate it. It makes them all sticky. What do you think?

Comments

  • the first time someone sends you a $150 auto and it slides out of the top loader and gets bent you will change your mind...
  • I dislike them also, but when trading or buying, you are not trading for/buying the top loader, you are trading for/buying the card. The top loader/penny sleeve is just part of the packaging. I personally use team bags (can store up to 4 toploaders in one team bag).

Then just put it in the kind of thing I sent to you. The outer covering thing that you put around the top loader.
  • YES!!! I hate it, wish more would use team bags.

I don't mind using a piece of tape on the top of the top loader to protect the card from comming
out during shipping. I mostly expect it when I get a card in the mail too. I just reuse those
top loaders when I send something else back out.
  • whatever caricon said, i would second that. perfectly said. this is unless the card is worth a lot and/or rare. for shipping only, obviously.

  • Just a suggestion. We use those leftover pack fillers; we put one on both sides of the toploader then securely tape the top & 1 side.
When the person gets the card all they have to do is remove the
pack filler from both sides & they have a top loader with no stickum on it & a card that was well protected during shipping.
The card fillers add stiffness while enroute & protect the card during mailing. When sending multiple cards the team bags are also very good. Hope this helps!

I do not keep the tape on them. When I recieve cards I put them in new toploads and team bags. I like to put a piece of tape on the top when sending because it will not let the card move at all in the topload. I then put it in a team bag. It is better to be safe than sorry.

  • I usually use use tape but make a tab out of the end so you can peel it off easily, then team bag it. Whatever it takes to get the card there in the condition it was sent in

that's the first time I've ever seen you hating something image
But I dislike tape as well.. (at least for storing my cards, when I send I usually put tape on the toploader(s))
  • i agree with hofsigs

if u are traded big put tape and secure the card, its worth it personally on big 1/1 trades i send in screwdowns so that nothing can happen.
  • Instead of tape, I use those small (about 1/2") Avery labels.
They peel off real easily, and a package of about 500 of them only costs a couple of bucks.
I just fold it over the top of the top loader, and the person receiving the card can peel it right off.

That is why people should use team bags.
  • yea but tape works the same ? if not better so why do u care what the toploader looks like as long as the card stays mint
  • I'm all about putting paper around the top loader then taping the paper. I haven't done that in a while but it works very wellimage
  • just 2 words TEAM BAGS !!!!!!!
