Will re-grade always get a new certification number?

Since HRH did not answer this question tonight (I submitted two days ago). I need you folks feedback.

If no, how do I know whether the coin(s) have been looked by PCGS graders or they are simply re-holdered?

I sent in two lots of coins, and both are for re-grade service. One lot get new certification numbers (the regular service) and the other lot did not have new numbers (still using old cert numbers and it is the modern service).

Any feedback is much welcome.

    Okey, HRH did not answer the question. I need you folks' feedback.
    I suspect these coins did not get graded and straight to the re-holder room. That's why cert numbers did not get changed. How can we know PCGS always re-grade the coins?

    Depend on which service you use (morden, regular, express etc).

    The first time that I sent coins in to be pedigreed, I had 12 of the coins regraded before being reholdered. Of the 10 coins, 3 were upgraded a point, but the certification numbers remained the same as when I sent them in.

    The second time I sent coins to be pedigreed, I had 3 coins regraded before being reholdered. This time the three coins all upgraded a point but had different certification numbers. The other 7 coins were reholdered and pedigreed with the original certification numbers.

    The first time I sent coins in, they upgrade both. Obviously, they both got new numbers. The second time I sent coins in, they didnt upgrade either. Both came in new holders with new numbers. I think they take the coins out of the holders now before they do the regrade. That way they dont have to look through all the scratches on the holder.

    The service costs $16 through the econmony submission. One side benifit is that even if your coin doesnt upgrade, it gets in a new holder.
