I don't get it, a countefeit at 72 dollars, I saw an original 1914-d in au condition that had been cleaned go for only 265 you would think that people would have spent more on that.

You pose a good question here.

Two thoughts come to mind, perhaps there are more answers, but here is my brief set of thoughts.

Perhaps someone is bidding it up to then sell it as legitamate through other venues, or perhaps someone disagrees and thinks it is the real thing?

That coin was probably made from a 44-D. I fear that that the reason people might want it is to pass it off as original-------------------BigE

Its a good looking 4. But the 19 to 14 spacing is wrong and the second "1" should be the same length as the first. Also i think the bust should be weaker.

There could be a number of reasons for wanting it.........some good and some bad. I think to bid it so high is leading to a bad reason.....Ken
