I saw this today and thought worth watching.

Geoff took 3 cards and had them graded by 4 different grading companies. All was well till ready to sub them to PSA! 🥺

    As I work in a construction field with safety being a top priority, I could not help but notice that he didn't wear safety glasses for the 2nd crack outs and plastic was flying. Taking shortcuts (cutting corners-literally) for the sake of a show got him too.

    This is a good video though that shows the possible/likely inconsistencies you will always find with grading.

    I would have liked to have seen him finish up by getting SGC to grade them all again. Bet they wouldn't have gotten the same grades they had originally (aside from the obviously messed up Jordan).

    I never bought in to the grading aspect myself. Most of my collection remains ungraded, as it was obtained originally. i have purchased cards that were already graded, but not one card has ever been sent in for grading by me.

    I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

    I don't usually post this kind of stuff Curt since it gets crickets.

    But, I thought this was a good exercise in grading until he messed up.

    And talking about being careful? After cutting the corner - I would use a very large screw driver since you're almost immediately "Rotating" rather than "penetrating" the 2 halves of the holder.

    Send the same card to PSA 10 times would be fun. I think 5 is my max so far.

    Interesting video, thanks for posting. For me, it confirms that at the end of the day, you are paying for someone's opinion of a card - its not an exact science despite the grading guidelines. Secondly, you are paying for the holder, so pick one you like to have in your collection...and leave it there. Third, using comically large snips to crack a holder is a bad idea.
