Post a card/cards as a tribute to mom or dad.

I know these type of threads can be a downer, but I have a great story about my mom taking me to Yankees Spring Training in 1985. My mom alawys took me to card shows in South Florida, and when I asked her to take me to get signatures at spring training, of course my awesome mom said yes. While practice was going on, my mom figured out where the players parked, and we stood there with other fans hoping the cars would stop to sign a few autos. My mom,by my side, pushed forward, and Rickey stopped and signed for us and others. It is an amazing auto! A few others stopped, and signed, but I was hoping that Don Mattingly would stop. To my amazement he stopped, but the crowd was growing as people figured where the players were signing. Eventually, Don got tired of signing, and said he was done. As people walked away disappointed, we were right at his car window. My mom instead of walking away, said to Don Mattingly, "I'm not leaving until you sign this for my boy." When looking back on it, it was a brazen, A--hole move from my mom to block Don's car. However, Don learned a lesson to not piss off an Italian woman, or she might reach in your car and choke you out! What I learned is that my mom would do anything to make sure her boy would not be disappointed. That is the legacy of my mom. A life of selflessness, kindness, love, and a side of feistiness as Don found out. If you have a card that has a connection to mom or dad feel free to post, and a tell a story. I'll miss my mom so much, but she is in better place. Say hi to Rickey up there!

Watching a game as a child in 1986 (end of May or beginning of June) with my Mom, who was a huge fan of the sport. Dan Pasqua just called up got a few big hits.

The next day I was dragged along to do some shopping with her a few towns away where she noticed a Sports Card Shop and stopped the car. She handed me $1 and said go get a Pasqua. I miss her so very much...

Submitted it to SGC last year, I thought it was a sure 9.5. I've a feeling whats left of the SGC grading staff does not understand about corners from cards that were in 1980's Donruss factory sets. Regardless this exact card I purchased 40 years ago is priceless to me.

I now proudly display it in my home office.

I know these type of threads can be a downer,

If you're talking that there wasn't an ROI or bitch about PSA? Then sure.

But, thanx for sharing. I can tell this was important for you to "share" with us - and if it's important to "you?" Then it's important to me.

    Really nice story.
