Two and a half months in Assembly. Two-card order.

Apologies for adding a complaint post...but 2.5 months in Assembly? I can understand an order sitting for months waiting to be entered or graded due to the backlog but I am trying to understand how placing two (!) cards in holders and quality checks could not be accomplished in this amount of time. Has anyone experienced this kind of delay beyond the grading stage?

You shouldnt have to do this, but if you make a call to customer service, they will agree and hustle it along....

Thanks - it certainly can't hurt to try

I kind of have this weird vibe now. Like Elvis has left the building and he is the one who helps your orders advance to the next stage.

I had 3 orders that seemed like they were on the bottom of a pile of 500,000 orders for months. But then I felt like as The National approached they had goal #1 of going into the show saying the backlog # decreased by this much and everything of mine seemed to be moving along, quickly advancing to the next stage. I got an email from PSA on a Saturday. All 3 orders were advancing and one pushed through prior to The National.

Now it just feels like, man, usually at this stage where cards have been graded and its just Assembly and QA Check, I cant help but check every half hour. Now it just feels like why bother, it just doesn't feel like anything is happening. I have a QA checks order that has been sitting a while, just push it to the next desk, spend 2 minutes looking it over and tell me the grades, take your time shipping. Then I have another in Assembly that just feels stuck.

This would not explain 2 1/2 months but I just feel like something is keeping old orders from moving the way they were pre-National. Maybe all the orders they took at The National and all the expensive quick turnaround orders have moved to the front of the line.

"I have a QA checks order that has been sitting a while, just push it to the next desk, spend 2 minutes looking it over and tell me the grades, take your time shipping."

I share the same sentiment. I chuckle when I see "We apologize for the delay with your order; we're working on it. Thank you for your patience."

No, you are obviously not working on it. Any "work" on my order would have wrapped it up several weeks ago.

Comments above are spot on. I have one sub that is now well past 3 months over the due date. Been stuck in assembly for at least two months now. I have a second sub that is one week short of 3 months past it's due date.

Apparently, there is nobody around to slab our stuff anymore. Or to "review" the slabs if a miracle happens and they move to QA.

The stages of completion are arbitrary. Its just a feel good metric for you to think things are moving along.
When its stuck and you call, as suggested above, they say they'll prioritize your sub and get it going even faster.
    They say that to everybody.
You think the rep goes into the room and says, "Ron just called. Drop what youre doing and walk his sub to the front of the line. Yeah forget about those other million cards for now."
I've called before on a past due sub, and within a hour the sub went from Assembly to QA Check.
Meant nothing as it sat in QA Check for months afterwards anyway.
You think the sub actually progressed to the next stage? They changed it to appease me and shut me up.
Months with it showing in Assembly or months showing in QA Check. Makes no difference.

With all these comments and service interruptions/pauses I cannot understand how there's not a single other grading company in this country who can't figure out how to take advantage of these business practices. It also boggles the mind that Fanatics/Topps hasn't entered this arena. Seems like millions just sitting on the tree ready to be plucked.

This might not be what anyone what's to hear; but if they're grading a trillion cards every month from now until the end of time then they are probably constantly running out of holders. I received over half a submission back of standard sized cards in 1956 Topps sized holders one time. It was absolutely ridiculous. The only reason is a shortage of standard sized holders. This might be one of many issues; but it is most definitely one of them.

Often wondered if anyone passed away awaiting their order to be returned.

While I wish it was not the case, Sadly no way it has not occured many times.

I have literally forgotten what I sent them back seven months ago. Now the surprise of getting the cards back is not the shock, but seeing what I sent in.

Looking for high grade rookie cards and unopened boxes/cases

I've have often thought about that scenario as well. Orders have to be signed for and if not, the cards don't the cards get returned to PSA.? In the case of the owner's death and no one to sign for the cards, PSA probably has a nice inventory of graded cards from the deceased owners.

Wonder if the PSA terms of agreement has a statement therein addressing such a situation.

There is the angle with PSA that they dont charge the customer until they are done grading and the grades have popped. So they go to charge the credit card of a dead person, that card should be not active and the charge is rejected, then the box of graded cards would never be mailed.

I would be interested in knowing how often this happens, then especially how often it happens with this lengthy shutdown and the COVID shutdown.

I would also be interested to know what they do with the graded box of cards that has a PSA 9 Mantle and some other very valuable cards they couldn't send to a dead person. I would hope if it was me my wife had the option of paying for it instead of PSA just deciding it was theirs and auctioning it off, although I'd think it was the latter.

This thread may have taken a morbid turn but the fact is due to their methods PSA, intended or not, profits from death.

Now crookedly place a sticker on that!

I hear you. My LAST ever submission is now 88 days OVERDUE after waiting 95 original days

I just got the email today that FedEx finally has my order. The 10-card order was entered into the PSA system on February 9th with an original completion date of mid-June. 2+ months overdue but I'm happy that the cards are coming home.

Congrats. Glad you are getting your stuff and are seeing some progress.

Its funny cause I had a positive feeling after I sent a message to PSA and it was responded to so quickly. I responded hey, thanks for the quick response and am talking to them like a regular old person you'd have a beer with. Then I noticed at the bottom a note in small print, this message generated by Collector's AI agent or something like that.

Its say Hi, I'm Grady. 😂 Uh no, you are nobody. Thanks for nothing. I was thinking I was probably never going to send in another submission but if the grades were great, maybe I continue to play the game. But I think this tilts it, as Harnessracing says, waiting on my LAST 2 EVER submissions. I dont need any part of this in my life going forward. And the thought of not doing this anymore makes me happy. 😄
