Not surprising he is not going to play for the Lakers in 2026-2027. Not surprising that he is going to play in 2026-2027.
So what team do you think he will play for in 2026-2027?

He gets passed around like a peace pipe
What's his poor son gonna do?
I guess it'll be a 2-fer deal. LOL
James and Curry playing on the same team would certainly be a likely guaranty of 41 home game sellouts and 41 road game sell outs for Golden State next regular season; would guaranty sell outs for any play-in and playoff games Golden State plays in; would likely guaranty record setting TV viewership for Golden State games; and would be a focus of media attention from the start of training camp to the end of the Golden State 2026-2027 season.
If James and Curry play together next season it could be:
a. filled with injuries to many older players on the GS roster that mimicks the 2025-2026 season, with unknown players from the G League playing at the end of the season while the OG players are out;
b. filled with excellent basketball played by the OG players while they are on the court [with a minutes restriction and no back to backs];
c. a flame out with no playoff appearance; or
d. a cinderella season where the OG players mesh, turn back the clock and make a deep playoff run.
Whether James plays with Curry in 2026-2027 is yet to be determined. If it happens it will be interesting to watch.
@perkdog, I’m not sure he’s passed around like anything. Though he was involved in a “sign and trade” which was a technical thing, teams haven’t been anxious for him to leave.
The forum hatred for Lebron is a palpable thing, but aside from being outspoken on certain issues he is a fine person, never been in any sort of trouble, a good and generous teammate, family man and quite philanthropic. The City of Akron, and especially inner city youth, are better off because of LeBron James.

LeBron is def. one of the greats and by all accounts a good dude. Haters need some PB with their Jelly!
@SanctionII, the idea of Curry and LeBron playing together is quite appealing. Who knows where he’ll sign but I expect he’ll end in Cleveland, even if it’s on one of those one day contracts.

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention how steve k’d out by sinking to a new low with the comment about LeBron’s son.
But it’s what I expect from him.

LeBron James will be considered (if not already) the professional basketball player with the most of everything.
His level of all around play, his size, his strength, his power, his durability, his longevity outshine everyone else. He is the Ironman of hoops, who could probably play at an NBA level until he is 45 or even 50.
The 2026-2027 season will be his 24th in the league. Very few players have made it to 20 years in the league. He continues to put up amazing statistics.
Got to tip your hat to LeBron for his dedication to the sport.
As far as LeBron's son goes, I expect he will continue playing in the NBA under his current contract. Whether it is with the Lakers or some other team, if he is not on the same team as his father that would probably be beneficial to him.
I never said I hate Lebron
I know he is an all time great, anyone who thinks otherwise is not possibly serious.
He is a hired gun then, not a peace pipe how about that
Yes because "garbage time" superstars like Bronny, are vitally important to a team's success. 😂
I think what he has done is move to teams which present him with what he sees as his best chance at a title plus fitting what he wants. He left Cleveland because they wouldn't sign any help and Miami allowed him to play with friends who were also great players. He went back to Cleveland with assurances and they built around him. He went to LA to play for the Lakers and be close to some of his business ventures.
Could you imagine him signing with the Celtics to be their 6th man??!!??

Any team that LeBron James plays for next year will experience media coverage far, far greater than any media coverage the team has experienced before (including the Knicks
)
His contract with LA became guaranteed like literally an hour before LeBron told them he was leaving. Not a coincidence.
Yea, who knows what goes on behind the scenes with chit such as this. It wasn't a lot of money, so i doubt if the Lakers care that much either way.
I'd take him in Boston, I wouldn't trade Brown or Tatum to get him though

As far as I know he's an unrestricted free agent. That means nothing but ink to sign him. Lebron James is typical of what happens with great players when they move to a new team, they tend to make the other players better. Certainly his "skills" have fallen off as he's aged, but not really that much. If he signed with the Celtics as the 6th man it would cut his time dramatically so he'd have more in the tank for the time he's on the court.
Past his scoring and defense, the aspect of James' game that I've always liked is his passing/assists. I think Tatum would benefit the most.

The possibility of LeBron James signing with Golden State is a topic of much conversation on Sports Talk radio in the SF Bay Area. Many people are intrigued at the prospect of James and Curry playing together.
Yesterday James announced he would not sign with the Lakers and that he is going to play for another team in 2026-2027.
Yesterday or the day before Draymond Green announced he would not exercise his player option to play next year with Golden State at a salary of about $28,000,000.00 (meaning he can play somewhere else, or he can resign with Golden State at a different, likely lower, salary amount). If he resigns with Golden State for say $15,000,000.00 the cost savings to the team can then be used towards paying James on a one year contract.
Steve Kerr recently agreed to coach Golden State for two more years (he will thus be in sync with Curry's contract with Golden State that has two years left on it).
I wonder if it is possible (allowed by the CBA and/or the player's union) and likely that other players on Golden State (specifically Curry and Jimmy Butler) would restructure their own contracts to lower their salary for 2026-2027 to give the team more flexibility in funding a contract with James covering the 2026-2027 season.
I would enjoy seeing James sign with Golden State and play with Curry next season. It would be very interesting to see how it would play out. If all of the older players on the roster (James, Curry, Green, Butler, Horford and even Porzingas) could make it through the regular season without injury so that they are fresh for a playoff run; and if younger players can play effective minutes and be productive the 2026-2027 season for Golden State could be very entertaining and profitable for the team and the league.
The NBA should let him move around like a temp, so he can go a few weeks with Golden State, then a few with Miami, a Farewell To The King in Cleveland, maybe a few games for OKC, a few for the Knicks?! He could play for all the teams! The mid-season tournament could be renamed The LeBron Invitational where all teams compete for the right to sign him for a handful of games. I'm pitching this idea right now.
LeBron could sure use the money. I've read that he is a billionaire. I mean you can barely buy a small city these days with that meager amount.
And the Boston Celtics have traded Jalen Brown!!

For Paul George and some draft picks
I would have rather they got rid of Derek White and Peyton Pritchard for whatever, Brown is a stud and those guys failed miserably when Tatum was out
I think Brown hated most of the Boston fans partly from thinking everyone was racist, aldo he didn't want to play second fiddle to Tatum which I can understand

This is a sentiment I cannot understand. I remember well that Cleveland suffered in that same way with Kyrie Irving who was a fabulous player. The Cavs had finally broken through after 2 finals losses against Golden State, they had a team that could have been a serious threat for years, but Irving wanted "his own team" so that he could be the MAN!!! The end result was a disaster for all parties: Cleveland was one and done, Irving struggled with injuries and has become an afterthought while he didn't lead anyone anywhere.
Brown should have stayed in Boston and worked out his personal problems and differences while he waited for the team to find that 1-2 players to put them back in the finals.

Tough to tell if he is also satisfied that he won a championship though
If he was still looking for that maybe he would have stayed IDK
That didn’t persuade Irving to stay.
