Fishy 76 Topps Trek

1976 Star Trek #1 PSA $2551 ??? Last one that IMHO looked nicer sold about 8 weeks ago for $375, the one prior in Nov sold for ~$325. 8x that seems very fishy

Seller sold a lot of other 1976 Trek many of which were 2-7x FMV. So not just this one card although it was one of the more egregious examples.

Pumping scheme? guesses?

Complete list of seller trek sales - even the lower priced cards were 2-3x FMV's from last 10 months.

The underbidder kept on raising the bar and the winning bidder kept on bidding until they reached the ceiling. Could be an effort to manipulate pricing if it's such a substantial difference from prior sales. It certainly wasn't a feeding frenzy over a rare card.

Manipulating price is my thought as well. If not, I will be listing my PSA 8 ASAP!

Another example from yesterday - sold for 7x FMV based on last several PSA 9 sales.

This one sold for 2x FMV, BUT that is more than $2000 higher than it's last sale. It is a tough card in high grade.

The centering on this McCoy is NOT to my liking! I don't think it would be a 9 today. I guess 8 max and more likley a 7!

If you click on the ended items and click on the bids you can see the % of bids made by the bidders with this particular seller.
The McCoy winner placed 78% of his bids (5 items) in the last month with this seller. The underbidder placed 100% of his bids (10 items) with this seller. The 3rd bidder, with 151 feedback, placed only 12% of his bids (4 items) with this seller.

These numbers are public record through ebay. Take the info for what it is, no conclusions are being made or implied.

One More, which will be my last

This one is a PSA10 but an old PSA10. I've a PSA9 that is better centered and probably more sharp. Still there are 5 more in PSA10 so given demand it's not "rare'.

Like a Fish, these auction stink/rot from the head down

P.S. I love the original velour shirts
