Rory's Master purse take was 4.5 million, Taxman's take 1.9 million. 40%.Not a bad 4 days "work" for the g.mint.
If and when the rate hits 50% who will we be working for.

I'm a retired blue collar worker. Between Federal, State and local taxes and fees, I figure the Government took about 50% of every dollar I ever earned.

Yet I have never had 2.6 million left over after taxes.

    Just sayin'

The American revolution was started because of a 3% tax on tea.

Oh and by the way, income tax (3%) was a temporary tax to help us in WW1

Also the numerous "fees", a blind tax.

this is why i harbor zero empathy for Rory

this guy's name is James Nicholas. he plays on the Korn Ferry tour. for those not familiar, it's the official developmental tour for the PGA Tour. those guys make a fraction of what PGA Tour players do, but they are grinding hard to pursue their dreams and hopefully one day reap the benefits of the lucrative "big league." this guy even has a YouTube channel to supplement his income, and he goes into detail about how much he truly makes. this particular year he made a quarter million dollars, but his expenses dragged him down to roughly the six-figure mark. Rory makes that in his sleep every night. and Nicholas is one of the better KFT players. there are many who make next to nothing. oh, and he graduate from Yale. he could probably go work on Wall Street and make half a mil, but he loves golf and is going full throttle to reach his aspirations.

so no, i don't feel bad for McIlroy. the dude was using a private jet to go to & from Florida to play Augusta National every day for three weeks prior to the tournament. he'll be just fine.

What type of expenses were they that could eat up that much of his income?

I paid my house off, including all taxes, yet still pay an annual "property tax" on something I fully own.

Yup. You never really own your home. You really just rent it.

Just received an order on Ebay. Not sure how long they've been doing this, but it's the first time I've noticed it.

    "Retail delivery fees"

    From Google AI
A retail delivery fee on eBay is a state-mandated, mandatory tax on shipments containing taxable items delivered by motor vehicle to specific states (currently Colorado and Minnesota). It is a per-order fee, separate from sales tax or shipping costs, automatically collected from the buyer at checkout and remitted by eBay to support infrastructure, such as road maintenance.

That's why Gas Tax and auto registrations were started, roads.
