Strongsville Sports Collectors Convention 11-13 Apr 2025

All,

I am attending my first Strongsville card show next month. Was wondering what type of payment do the dealers accept? Credit cards, Venmo, PayPal? Or is it mostly cash only?

Appreciate any other recommendations about the show. Thank you.

Cash deals always get you a better price on the card as well. Bring cash.

For safe keeping ensure to store your most valuable cards at the Strongsville Best Western!

If it's good enough for Memory Lane to keep 2.5 Million there it's good enough for everyone!

Cash is definitely king. The key is finding that dealer that actually wants to move inventory vs displaying it and holding out for their ridiculous premium. I used to go to the Tri-Star in Houston and I swear that the larger dealers had the same inventory three years in a row.

We are going to Strongsville next weekend for the first time and looking forward to a show with strong vintage cards outside of the National. The last two months we have been to Nashville and Shipshewanna which were mainly modern stuff with a little vintage. Shipshewanna was a nice venue and people were super friendly. Vintage was scarce at the show and the little bit that was there was not high grade or plentiful.

Have heard that Strongsville has a lot of vintage plus I am getting about 6-8 cards reviewed by MBA - already submitted them last week to expedite the process. Probably bringing a few decent cards as well to move if anyone is setting up😉

Drove up on Friday, 140 miles or so. Arrived at about 2:15 and it was raining. Drove in circles for 10-15minutes looking for a parking spot, none to be found. No signs pointing to a parking area that I recall seeing. I looked at my adult son and asked "how far to the casino?" Went to The JACK racino instead.

This must be the Eye Candy store. Those cards are glorious.

That 56 Mantle 8 is one of the nicest ones I've seen. It's perfectly centered.

Thank you for the nice note. I have owned 2 to 3 PSA 8.5.’s and 4-5 PSA 8’s and out of all of them I would say it is definitely one of the top two in terms of centering. I currently have a PSA 5 that is very close to this one that I need to get reviewed.

why is that Schmidt rookie "only" a 5? looks fantastic! centering is great. perhaps a surface flaw?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I would say , Why do most all of them so highly under graded. WOW

Not sure on the Schmidt and will take a closer look at it. I actually have a few other cards I will be submitting for the national - ironically enough I have another Schmidt in at 5 that looks like a twin to this one.

I am also thinking of submitting the PSA 5 for review, and might move it at the National to upgrade to a Jordan rookie or 33 Ruth plus cash - hate moving Mantle’s but sometimes you have to give up the good to get the great. Wise advice I was given by a fellow collector. It seems it is centered as nice as the 8’s, and it does have a little snow on the front and a small indentation on the right border. As you can see in the attached scan it is pretty close to being dead centered and corners are strong.
