Allengelhard update: Need help identifying these Engelhard 1/4 oz ingots

I picked up these from a friend who had them tested with an xr gun and sigma.

I can’t find any information on these ingots. I tried allengelhard.com and many different searches and I keep coming up empty.

I believe they were produced in Canada. I think they might have been giveaways or a promotional piece or …..
note, the picture of little round holders I think was originally used one for each ingot and the plastic display holder came later.

Any information would be appreciated.

You could always email them through their site. They have been very helpful to me in the past. Just send them a few pics..

Usmc_6115: yes, I did send pictures to allengelhard.com about six weeks ago and I only received their automated response that they got the message.

This is very frustrating. I was hoping someone on this forum would know something.

I would guess this is a very rare item. I have never seen this item and I have eyeballed plenty of Engelhard stuff.

    Loves me some shiny!

A broad search on Google doesn't even come up with images.. Here's what ChatGPT says.. not helpful but interesting?:

ChatGPT says it is very rare non retail collector bullion rarely seen.

Looks like you have a nice rarity.. wish I could be more helpful

Usmc_6115: I don’t use ChatGPT so you found more than I did, thank you.

The gold buttons & stamp looks modern to me... makes me wonder if it's legit from Engelhard?

I pretty sure they are engelhard Australia , the modern version -

After engelhard australia stopped making stuff, a group of people revived the name and made 2oz , 5oz , 10oz and Kilo silver ingots.

They also made some modern gold.

    These look pretty cool

It's all about what the people want...

Isn't the bull logo reserved for Canada products?

No it's also found on Engelhard Australia products, which was in Australia from 1966-1986.

Recently obtained this book but there are no entries that match the OP.

I agree with Luke Marshall and Wingsrule. Either Allengelhard or the Brett book would have included examples if these were vintage and not modern.

    Somehow these items seem "off"

Note: allengelhard does not have a page for gold ingots therefore, it is possible they were produced in Canada.
I think they are really cool and it would be a bummer if they were modern pieces. If they are modern they go in my sale pile but I am thinking positively that someone knows something.

I just received this update from allengelhard.com. My thanks to them.

“Thanks for your email and photos.  These nuggets appear to be the new "Engelhard Australia" product that started in 2014.  They purchased the expired name rights to Engelhard Industries in Sydney and began manufacturing retro bars and ingots.  We have not tracked them, as our focus is on vintage Engelhard bullion.”

They are cool but I am bummed because I like the vintage stuff. the person who sold them to a dealer in Buffalo said they were a present many years ago. In my mind Buffalo on Canadian border, present many years ago, and bull mark made me think these could have been special.

Good news still an ounce of gold. In my sale pile it goes after I figure a price.
