I wasn't going to do another giveaway here this month (usually I do ‘em on CoinTalk). But I was just the recipient of some gracious generosity by @LukeMarshall, so I need to "pay it forward" some.
LordM Giveaway #143 (pick your prize)
Contest status: CLOSED
Drawing: 28 February 2026
Winner: @Creg
Shipped: 4 March 2026
Winner's receipt: 7 March 2026
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the latest giveaway. This will be another one of my "pick your prize" contests, so you can hopefully win something you'll like.
To enter:
(1) Go view my giveaway goodies list on CoinTalk.
(It's three pages long, so there's lots to choose from. Sorry about the stupid ads.)
(2) Come back here to post an entry, stating which prize lot you would prefer.
(3) State why you chose what you did.
NOTE: That last bit is important. To qualify, you have to not only pick a prize, but also say WHY you picked it. Just a few words will do.
Alternately, you could enter on someone else's behalf. Just name them. In that case, you are not required to pick a prize or say why. Your designated proxy will get to pick their choice later, if your entry wins for them.
Your prize choice need not be final. I do periodically add new prizes to the giveaway goodies list, so if you win the drawing, you'll be given a chance to change your mind later, if you see a new prize you like more. I just enjoy reading everyone's initial selections up front, since it gives me an idea of what folks like.
The drawing will be done via random number generator sometime on or after the date mentioned at the top of this post. The timing will depend on my schedule. You may consider the contest open for entries until such time as I have posted the final result of the drawing.
Totally free: the contest is free of charge, open to everyone, with free worldwide shipping. The only further requirement is...
If you win, please post a receipt in this thread after you get the prize, so we'll know you got it (that helps me keep track).
Good luck!
Numismatic regards,
~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

So… I’m sure y’all have noticed how the price of silver has shot through the roof lately.
Sorry, but I succumbed to temptation and sold all the silver in the Giveaway Goodies list.
Ha! Just kidding! No I didn’t!
It’s all still there, and up for grabs.
What I did was add more.
There’s now three pages of giveaway goodies to choose from, including lots of silver.
There’s even one teeeeny-tiny gold coin, if that floats your boat.
So be sure and read the list of prize lots, and choose something fun!

PS- when you go look at the prize list- if you happen to be visiting CoinTalk without being a CT Supporter or having a good ad blocker, I'm sorry. The site is a great site when you don't have to see all those damn ads. There's nothing I can do about that, I'm afraid. I'm only a mere mod there, not an admin or the site owner.
Eventually, when my website is built, I'll move the Giveaway Goodies gallery over there, so you won't have to wade through an ocean of ads to look at the prizes.

Pick me, pick me! @lordmarcovan , If one cannot afford being a supporter at CoinTallk right now, there is AdGuard (FREE). It says trial but mine still works even after the notification. AdGuard.com

I hope this helps some people even though I hear the "supporter fee" is nominal.
THIS IS ALSO MY ENTRY FOR THE CONTEST. SORRY FOR THE CAPS.
My choice is the 2 set of India coins, 1808. Thanks and have a great day all! Stay warm,
Very generous of you @lordmarcovan !

Im in for the commodus denarius please and thank you for the chance at a great piece of history the daughter would love this for our collection. She really got into collecting and she actually is a fan of the gladiator movies.
1/12 Stater as I don't own coins that old. Yes, I know that we don't own the coins, we are coin minders for stretch of time, however long or short.
Thanks for the chance Robertson!
Peace
I go Giveaway Lot #250906-02 -- because they're from the way-back machine, and so bad they're good. Thanks, LordM!
Count me in, for the prize I’m still deciding.
OK, but remember-
I look forward to seeing what you choose. Seeing what people pick and hearing why they liked it is a major part of the fun I get out of running these contests.
If you’re having trouble picking a prize, that hopefully means I’ve done my job in putting out several interesting options.

Ok, I pick the dual peace dollars, one for me and one for a family member born in 1935.
That’s a Morgan and a Peace dollar in the lot that contains a 1935 Peace dollar. Gotcha. You’re entered.

Whoops!!
Thanks for the Shoutout @lordmarcovan
You do so much for the community , and I wanted to show that it is appreciated.
Good Luck everyone !!
It's all about what the people want...
I would pick Giveaway Lot #260123-02 . the lot of 4 war year quarters. I pick this because my father served in WWII as a medic and I was brought up with military memorabilia and discipline.
Bump, to push this one up above the closed contests.

1922 dollar please! In MS-62. Thank you!
Proud follower of Christ!
Thanks for the chance!
Giveaway Lot #260119-03 - The Isle of Man 3 coin lot would be my choice, as I do not have any IOM coins at all and they would make a nice addition to my United Kingdom set.
Thank you for your awesome giveaway.
I have a large cent collection I do for fun. I started it after a reading a post on this forum about 4-5 years ago. Only rule is that each one can cost no higher than $20. I added a twist by only searching and buying them when I am on vacation because I get a lot of time to myself while my wife is at conventions in different cities. I house them in Dansco album pages and find it a good reason to locate and walk to coin shops in new cities. I will make an exception for this giveaway because the price is right. I would be interested in-
Giveaway Lot #250907-03 1841 large cent
Cool.
@massu2 won a large cent in one of my giveaways several years ago, and look where he went from there! That post made my day.
Best of luck!

I'll take one of those plaid shirts on the left...oh wait, that's just an ad...oops. Actually I would choose Giveaway Lot #250907-03 1841 copper Braided Hair large cent. My mom gave me one before she passed, and it's so worn, hardly any details are visible, unlike this one. Thanks for the chance, once again!!!
I’m glad all you got in the ads was a plaid shirt! From what I hear, some of those ads can be pretty skeezy at times. 🙄
(I wouldn’t know- as a CoinTalk Suporter, I don’t get ‘em.)
Eventually when I get a website going, the prize list will be there instead of CoinTalk.

Still picking the Crusader States: ca. 1163-1201 AD silver "helmet" denier of Bohemond III of Antioch
I don't have anything like it, and I really like the looks of it.
Know you’ve been after that one a while, so this post is an extra bonus entry on your behalf.

This is a very generous contest! I have been away from these boards for a while, but I am happy to see you are still here. I still have fond memories of your holy collection and you detecting finds.
The coin you have listed that is of most interest to me is Lot #250906-08 Hungary: 1540-KB silver denar of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor
I am drawn to this coin for its age, design, and especially its country of origin. Because I am Hungarian! My mother was born there in 1942. I still remember stories my grandmother told me about surviving world war 2. Summer 2024, we all took a family trip to Budapest. A childhood friend of my sister's now lives there as an expat. A highlight of the trip, was the morning he joined us for whatever was on the docket that day, which happened to be a visit to my mother's childhood 3-unit apartment building. In a crazy, uncanny, coincidence, it turned out that my sister's friend lived in the exact same building my mother had lived in! So we not only got to see the building, but to actually go inside. It was a wonderful trip, that helped me understand my heritage better, and for this reason, this is the prize you have listed I would most like to own.
Thank you for the consideration, and again for your generosity.

@Artist - thanks. I love the detailed entries like that. It’s the main reason I ask folks to post the WHY behind their prize choices.

That is quite the list of options to choose from. Put me down for the Giveaway Lot #250906-07 (LOT: 3 coins) 1474-1992 Spain & USA: trio of Christopher Columbus-related coins (Cited from: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/lord-marcovan-giveaway-prize-list-for-my-pick-your-prize-contests.419070/). I think I would put them in a similar display with all three showing like you have the photos.
Thanks - Jim
The 1958-D Franklin - would be a nice upgrade for my 7070.
Thank you, Rob!

Omaha nickel, I don’t have a good Jefferson, and I considered buying a cent with the label yesterday. I saw the one in the 7070 thread, I noticed the reminder post somewhere. It’s fate, things are going my way. Thank you in advance.
Don't forget you also have to post the "why".

Rob, what an impressive, and eclectic, list.
1940-S ANACS Merc, Giveaway Lot #250907-16
Going all the way back to the paper route days as a kid, Mercs were and are my favorite series. And. There's nothing quite like a bright, shiny Merc. Canada 67 set was a close second, my mother was Canadian.
Props to your generosity. Take care.
If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

1896 Morgan Dollar. This is the year my aunt was born. She taught 1st grade for many, many years. She even taught her sister in 1st grade. That sister was my mother who was born in 1912. My aunt helped many of her relatives, including me as she helped pay my way thru college. She was born in July 1896 and passed away in January 1986, at the age of 99 1/2.
Morgan and Peace dollar lot
Because it's a lot of ASW!!!
Thank you, Rob. I'd be amazed if I ever win this coin, but I sure enjoy the contests and your generosity. You have always been stellar. I saw yesterday where a guy used the same 6 numbers for the Ohio Lottery for 22 years...it finally paid off, and he won $3.5 million.
Considering the relatively small turnout for my monthly giveaways, I’d say your odds are WAY better than the Ohio Lottery! Especially if you enter both this one AND the one on CoinTalk!
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Hi Rob! Sorry I missed you at the FUN show in Orlando! Wanted to chat with you about your treasure hunting at my old home in Brunswick (501 Dartmouth!). I won this drawing a few years ago so don’t know if I even qualify, but if I do I love this beautiful error cent. My stepdaughter and stepson LOVE my coin collection and have taken great interest in it. This error penny would fit in nicely with my No S proof dimes and nickel and 10% off center Ike! Hope all is well! Cheers, karl
Giveaway Lot #260203-01 United States: 1999 copper-coated zinc Lincoln Memorial cent, off-center error (ANACS MS66 RD) (Cited from: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/lord-marcovan-giveaway-prize-list-for-my-pick-your-prize-contests.419070/page-3)
@safari_dude - hi, Karl! Great to see you again!
Of course you qualify!
How lucky, and awesome that your stepkids are taking such an active interest in the hobby! I hope you cultivate that.

I'd like the 1967 Canadian set, Giveaway Lot #250907-21. I spent 31 years in the US military (since 1966) and retired up here in Canada in 1997, because I married a wonderful Canuck. The Centennial set will be a nice gift to my grandson, who is just starting on coins.
I too would like the Giveaway Lot #260203-01 United States: 1999 copper-coated zinc Lincoln Memorial cent, off-center error (ANACS MS66 RD) I have an unholy amount of copper to get rid of myself and not a single red cent or off center anywhere!

More importantly, this whole thread has genuinely inspired me to liquidate what I’m going to liquidate and then give the rest away for joy of passing it to someone who will enjoy it.
If I’m too late for the Red cents, the world‘s smallest gold coin is hilarious to me. I own absolutely no Gold save a college ring and wedding band. I kind of love the idea of bringing it out at my local coin club as I complain about gold’s last peak.
.
I would like Giveaway Lot #250906-02.
I have been rereading the classics of late. Something from the time and region would be a lot of fun!
Since I will be away from my desk on Sunday March 1st, I am doing the drawing a day early: today, Saturday February 28th.
The winner in the random drawing was... @creg!
COINgratulations, @creg!
You have won the Omaha Bank Hoard nickel!
I shall of course require your shipping address, and will message you shortly.
Do please remember to post a receipt notice to this thread later, after it arrives, so we will all know you got it.

I received the prize today—nicer than it looks in the pic. The other nickel was a real bonus!
