Confession time..........What PCGS Graded coins did you recently sell simply for bullion?

I sold 2006 Anniversary ASEs graded 69 some with FS labels and a couple of PR70s that had developed milk spots after 20 years..............

Also some $5 gold commemoratives with PCGS labels.

Four Michael Reagan signed fractional proof coins in PCGS holders and a few $2.50 Quarter Eagle Indians. Mostly raw eagles and Pre-‘33 Double Eagles. It was a madhouse for the past few months. Today : a ghost town.

  • I have to confess I pulled business strike and W burnished ASEs from 5 coin 2011 ASE sets to sell

MS 62 and below Saints and MS61 and below Liberty Double Eagles have been selling below melt along with Liberty Eagles.
This is with a 12.5% markup on Great Collections, so you can imagine what the sellers are getting. Some buyers on this past auction got bagged when they won auctions at prices above melt.

Since you hate silver so much why on earth would you buy graded bullion in the first place? Not to mention why would you fall for the early release/first strike hype, which is dubious? I'm highly skeptical of everything you post.

My DCA on all that slabbed stuff was sub $30. I cashed it all out at $91-$93. To the smelters it went. THKS!

And P.S. Nobody fell for anything. I was buying most of that stuff for the same price as raw so why wouldn't I take the slabbed stuff? Prior to the runup it did command a premium. Not anymore.

You bought MS70 First Strike PCGS graded bullion, including proofs, for under $30, the same as raw? LOL, prior to the recent run up the premium on that stuff was always way over melt prices. We need to see receipts or it didn't happen.

Agreed. That would be quite the opportunity when the TV Shows were selling these at $200-$300 with spot at $30. At a spot of $100, I netted $130 each selling these on ebay (MS70s).

LOL, I don't believe you acquired any MS70 First Strike PCGS graded bullion for the same price as raw/below $30, but I'd love for you to prove me wrong. I also don't know why you would put any effort at all into acquiring your stack since you claim to hate silver so much.

Rather be selling them in the $90s then back in the $30s. I was glad to take the 3+bagger. IMO modern graded bullion is a scam anyways. MS69/MS70/FDOI/First Strike/Special Privies etc. It's all the same. Yeah taxman will be happy this year and next. No worries here, massive capital gains is a problem I will gladly take any and every year. RGDS!

I was thinking about buying common date Morgans in PCGS 63. Current priceguide is 90. If silver drops the numismatic value will protect from as much loss. If silver rises it will ride it up.

Need a Barber Half with ANACS photo certificate. If you have one for sale please PM me. Current Ebay auctions

I have a bunch of graded Morgans and Peace Dollars from when I was building a set years ago. It's crazy to see that they have hardly budged in price even with the gutter going from the $20's to $100+. I did sell a small pile of common date lower grades recently. They melted for more than I paid for them. Melt is currently about $70 and wholesale is/was around $73-$75 for common date 63's. That may have changed a bit, I don't have real-time pricing but yeah, they would certainly retain numismatic value when the gutter retreats. RGDS!
