A local coin shop had silver at less than $7.50 per ounce.

Unfortunately, only about two and a quarter ounces at that price.
I saw this set in the case and thought it was neat.
Charleston South Carolina Bicentennial (1976) 5-piece medal set.
I supposed that it was only silver plated (at best), but it would still be worth the $15 asking price.
When I got home with it, I checked the edges.

.
So the set contains a total of 75.15 grams of .925 fine Sterling silver, for a net pure silver content of 2.24 troy ozs.

Very nice 👍! It’s the small wins that I enjoy the most.

Nice. I have a couple of those in my collection By way of background, the sets were sold or given out by the local First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Charleston (now South State Bank) to customers celebrating the SC Tricentennial (1670 - 1970) and the US Bicentennial (1776 - 1976).

Thanks for that.
It appears that most of them were copper-nickel ?
My theory would be that only the numbered sets were silver.
Perhpas the bank gave away the copper-nickel for free and charged for the silver ?
Here is a copper-nickel set in a holder with the bank logo on it:

That would make sense. 👍😁
