FS: Kellogg & Humberts and S. Molitor Gold Assay Deposit Receipts (1850’s-60’s)

For sale is a really cool group of gold deposit receipts at the SF offices of these two firms. Though not coins, these may be of interest to those who collect territorial gold so I’m posting here. Three total Molitor deposit receipts and one from Kellogg. Also included are a couple interesting California bank checks from that era. Asking $450 OBO. The following is information I was provided by the seller regarding the Molitor deposit slips:

“Deposit receipts of C.T.H. Palmer from S. Molitor & Company, San Francisco. Palmer was a Wells Fargo agent in Folsom. The 1860 deposit is 251 ounces, •896 fine, worth $4,552.54. The 1863 deposit is 68.47 ounces, 928 fine, worth $1,312.34. Charles T.H. Palmer was previously a California Gold Rush pioneer who established a number of businesses (banking, assay, etc.) in the Folsom area. As well, he served as Sacramento’s first school teacher. Molitor previously worked with S.C. Wass as a private coin firm (Wass, Molitor & Co.) during the California Gold Rush circa 1852-55.”

    I think Cavs is more typical when referring to to Virginia. Now Miami vs Virginia should be the championship game, no question the best two teams in the ACC. Have fun at the game @Wahoo554.
