A few new notes I picked up from Heritage and Stacks Bowers this week

**I typically only buy one or two notes per month, but I had a heart attack (VT) last week and just got out of the hospital last Sunday evening. I had a defibrillator implanted in my heart, and so am at home to rest and recover for 6 weeks. (I can't drive during this 6 weeks)
ANYWAY... Heritage and Stacks Bowers BOTH had currency auctions this week, and of course I joined in online and picked up a ton of new stuff, and wanted to share it here. I am heavy into Nationals and Obsoletes, but got a nice variety. Enjoy! **

(This is the only 25 EPQ I have ever seen, that I can recall!)

PS:YES! I really did buy all these and many more this week. I went a little crazy for sure, but I view my collection as an investment as well as a fun hobby.

Wow, what you picked in a couple weeks many collectors would need a few years to collect. The $5 Treasury note is just gorgeous; I can't even see the minor repair. VF 25Q is a fairly rare grade for Bison notes, PMG has only graded 9 for Fr.122 I think PMG was generous on the grade of the $2 Educational. When you take in the full view of the back, I see a F 15 note. The surcharges on your 10c and 50c Fractionals look great, clear and easily readable. Your Dallas FRBN is a nice looking VF 20. I think that's how you want a 20 to look, it still has some body to the note. That Manning note I sometimes feel is an underappreciated note. It looks good and doesn't come up for sale as often as some other notes. So if you find one that looks pretty good for a decent price, it's usually worth picking up. I think you had a great haul!

Thank you sir! Yes, after having multiple VT heart attacks, I just decided to cash out a few stocks and treat myself to a shopping spree - to the tune of $25,000. I think I did well from both a collectors and investment point of view. Facing death really changes your perspective on life!
Thanks again for your wonderful, and extremely accurate commentary sir!

Those are great investments in the joy of living... Lovely notes... I especially like the Alpine Texas note - do you have a connection to the city?
I also love the Manning note -he died of kidney failure at age 56 - the NY Times indicated that his physicians attributed his disease to the "bad sanitary conditions" in the Treasury Building (Yuck!) . I love 19th Century notes but I'll stick with 21st Century medicine and plumbing.
Yes I do! I was born in Pecos, and my mothers parents were ranchers and lived in the Davis mountains, near Balmorhea State Park. I owned the property until April of this year when I sold it to my cousin.
I actively seek Texas and Oklahoma National notes. Both can be rather expensive! In fact, a very rare 1929 series Pecos, TX note came across the Heritage auction block. It was the first one since 2011! I was prepared to pay stupid money for it, and ran it up to $3,200 ($3,840 with juice) and gave up. It ended up selling for $4,080. I was absolutely heartbroken, AND confused because someone had just paid $4000 for a $500 note! ($1000 at best)
Here are the actual past sales of all Pecos, Texas notes, large and small:

,
They don't show up often, especially in that good of condition. I was at the right place at the right time!

It seems to be popular, John. Do you have a connection to Alpine? Sul Ross University maybe?

Thank you very much! That's only a drop in the bucket of my currency collection. If you want to see more, I'll gladly throw some more "eye candy" up here!

No I don't not (if I do I'll let ya know)
Nice notes. I really like the $2 Brown Seal Treasury Note!
Fantastic presentation. I favor the Bison note.
Thank you @BLUEJAYWAY ! Funny story...
I didn't mention it earlier because I thought I had bartered it off in a trade deal, BUT...
I actually have TWO Bison notes that I bought simultaneously - one from Stacks Bowers, and the other from Heritage!
I didn't count on winning both of them but I managed to pull it off! Hahaha! So, now I am the proud new owner of not one Bison, but two of them so I guess I inadvertently started a "herd". One of them is a PMG25 with :Small Tears" comment, and the other is a PMG25EPQ! A rather rare grade for any paper currency (please correct me if I'm wrong), and here they both are side by side.

I have been interested in getting a Marfa, TX note (never lived there - just drove through like most people) -it would be great if you had one

That is a tough charter (8674) and fewer than 20 notes of large size, and 25 small size are known. That's another one I actively hunt.
