This sure is a beauty! Does anyone have an opinion if this is 7/7 or just the plain 7 variety?

Looks like a regular 7 with a bit of Machine Doubling.
The 7/7 shows the doubling north of the 7.
Also looks like there is some die clashing on the obverse
I missed the die clashing. It is pretty obvious, now that you mention it Thanks!

Agreed, not the 7/7 but die deterioration. The true 7/7 shows the top of the 7 doubled to the north by approx. 1/3 of its thickness (width).

first look as posted say 7/7. however, there are some 7/7 where u can not immediately see it. have to enlarge to be sure.
enlarging this is not working for me. not sharp enough.
super nice coin.

The grade is AU-58. There should be a grade of AU-59.9.

OK John,
very nice coi. I say it is 7/7. It is too bat PCGS does not bother to ID as they have the tools to do it beyond a daubt. Guess the mighty $$$$ is in the way of a 1 minute check.
here is a little trick .
in addition to your lightsource use LED small white-light flashlite. hold it at any angle pointing to the coin and try from top. I can watch the result changes on my large monitor connected to my Camera.
sometimes it completely eliminates the MD on the coin, the lens picks it up and shows the true strike. It sharply outlines the actual strike, often eliminates the shadow created by MD or your own light source OR not having the camer at an 90 degr angle to the coin
Try it, it might work for you and it is fun to experiment. II was often surprised... but it works. also, try to reverse view the coin 90 degr
I have all above done it with any size and any metal.

here are the dates of the 4 I ever had (sold)

you guys decide whats what. 3 of them where ICCS and one raw.
The top one looks like it may be a 7/7, the others no. The 7/7 that PCGS recognizes is shown on page 63 of the 77th edition of Charlton.
