Love this set. Thick card stock, clearer photos than 81, a baseball themed border, multi colors in the border, a chicken card, bright blue backs, the Ruth puzzle. What's not to like?

I always thought that Donruss was lazy with their 83 design being just minor changes from 82, but the 82 was a nice design so I guess why change it for 83.

I've always wondered how they chose the players they did for first Diamond King issue in the 82 set, because there were definitely better/more iconic players on some of the teams.

It's hard to argue putting Rose on there in 1982 as it was expected he was 1st ballot at the time.

Also noticed they spelled "Smalley" wrong.

It's either 1982 or 1983 that has the most HOFers with cards, if I recall. It's probably 1983 with the inclusion of the three rookies that made it (and I'm not sure anyone dropped off in 1983).
