Non-US purchase experience

I have been hesitant to purchase any coins from non-US sellers, mainly due several tariff horror stories that I’ve heard. But I decided to find out for myself how things stand, so I made a purchase (a 20-franc gold coin) from cgb.fr in Paris. Service was great, shipping was fast with FedEx, and there was no customs delay or fee of any kind. Maybe I was lucky, or maybe shippers have figured out what is and is not subject to tariffs.

I purchased an ancient at EU auction during September for $1400. Shipped Fedex. No interruption in shipment or extra billing (so far anyway.
Does the material give rise to the immaterial, or vice versa?
