Who's the best college football player right now?

Because it looks like he'll be playing for the Miami Dolphins next year-

Jeremiah Smith. No one can cover him in single coverage. But the Buckeyes get him for one more year after this year.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions
Carson Beck. All he does is win win win wherever he plays.
Keep an eye out on Trinidad Chambliss from Ole Miss
Smith is an elite WR but the idea that he cant be covered or is head and shoulders above the other elite WRs is absurd. He had 1 catch for 3 yards last year against Texas and was completely healthy. He had less than 45 yards to start the year against Texas again. Half of his stats have come against Grambling and the University of Ohio a MAC school.
I'm not really convinced this will be a Miami 1-1 pick though with how some of the other teams are playing. It really just comes down to what the teams want. As of now the QB spot is weak. Mateer broke his hand on a defenders helmet and Nuss at LSU according for former players suffered a shoulder injury in camp which is why his arm strength is down. Sellers got hurt too. Ty Simpson has been starting to put himself in the convo though.
Its a good draft if a team wants a defensive player or lineman
Currently Bain Jr the Miami edge is considered the favorite to go number 1

You have no clue what you're talking about. The reason why he didnt get the catches against Texas in last years playoff game was because he was double and triple covered. It was Texas game plan after what Smith did to Tennessee and Oregon where he was unstoppable. He also burned Notre Dame in the championship game. Smith broke Ohio State freshman records last year and has a ring to show for it. Best player in college football hands down.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions
I actually do know what I am talking about and dont just over hype someone because they go to a certain school.
He can be covered, thats proven. He has had a lot of bad games thats proven unless you think Im manipulating the box scores and stats somehow
At no point have I ever said he isnt elite, but youre making him him out to be head and shoulders about the other elite WRs which he is not and if you think he is the best player in college football hands down then people should just ask you who you think the best OSU player is. Hes not even the best player in the country at his position on his own team

This is from a Fox sports article just 2 days ago. Read the last sentence.
''Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State: +850
What to know: Smith has racked up 463 yards on 35 receptions with seven total touchdowns so far. In Ohio State's Week 6 game against Minnesota, he had 67 receiving yards and two scores. ''He is the best wide receiver in the country, and arguably the best overall player. ''
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions
Arch Manning
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Williams is just as good if not better than him. Downs is the one OSU guy who may be the best at his position but taking a safety 1-1 would be a wild move.
Bamas schedule has been significantly harder. Like it or not the first round is going to be defense heavy again and getting over half your stats against Grambling and a MAC school does not make you the best player in the country by far
Fire AJ Preller
And again, @Basebal21 is fixated on "Strength of Schedule" as the prime indicator of how good a team is.

I look at Egbuka and I remember him lined up across from Smith and then I think... I could see Smith as best overall. He might not be, but that he's in the discussion makes it inherently valid.
I suspect it causes BB21 physical pain when people don't agree with him.
MAC schools have beaten SEC schools. I guess Ben Rothlisberger was no good according to you.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions
I get the homerism but this is getting out of control if you guys cant acknowledge other elite players at the same position.

Smith Game logs
Texas 6 catches 43 yards 0 TDs
Grambling 5 catches 119 yards 2 Tds
University of Ohio 9 catches 153 yards 1 TD
Washington 8 catches 81 yards 1 TD
Minnesota 7 catches 67 yards 2 TD
None of that is by far and away the best player in the country and there are other WRs in the conversation for who is the best WR. But I guess some fans have a hard time looking at players around the country objectively

You might want to read this article from yesterday, and maybe you just might understand why Smith isnt getting any 200 yard games. Kind of difficult when he's got 5 defenders covering him. But good thing for the Buckeyes they are a NFL receiver factory, so there's other great options to throw to.

The fact remains if the draft were held today, Smith would be the first receiver to get drafted, if not the #1 overall pick.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ohio State Buckeyes - National Champions
Smith isn't the best statistical WR in the country, but I don't think that was the question. Nor did anyone state that there were no other great WRs in the country. I don't get the need to silence opinions by just hammering a singular narrative home. Sometimes you gotta kick open that basement door and explore.
You might want to understand why the other elite WRs face the same issues and Smith also has Tate taking a lot of attention off him as well
And no if the draft was held today the favorite to go 1-1 is Bains Jr the Miami edge, possibly Woods the Clemson DT. Its going to be a defense heavy first round

There you have it. Who’s the best college football player in the country? Our experts have weighed in and… well.. it’s going to be a Defense heavy first round in the draft. Back to you Pat.
In team sports it's futile trying to figure out who the best player is because of the way one player can affect a game's outcome. That same player may not have the stat's to beat everyone else, but he changes how the game is played. A good NFL example is Myles Garrett. He may not lead in sacks/tackles or anything else, but when he's in the game and where he's playing does a lot to determine what an offense does. He is always double teamed and often triple teamed.
That's how it is with Jeremiah Smith. He catches almost 3 of 4 passes thrown to him and is often double covered. With Carnell Tate on the other side it really pressures a defense because both players can't really be doubled all the time. I don't know if Smith is the best player in NCAA football this season but I know this much: if he played on any team in the SEC that @Basebal21 would be singing his praises and saying as much.
