I guess, I had it coming to me?

Hi guys,
Well, I see what I'm about to tell you guys. Will make most of you, very happy!
PSA, did get a hold of my wrongness and contacted my Dealer source and
"Banned me" from sending anymore cards out to PSA! He sent me an email, saying, " we're sending back my 10 cards, I recently sent out!"
Yep, I get it. But just thought I'd get a warning or something first?
Anyway, thought I tell ya guys about my sentence.
Thanks for the ones that supported me and forgave me.
I guess some, aren't really too keen on "Forgiveness"?
All my fault!
Love ya guys!

Well, I'm not sure why you say that only one person supported or forgave you. No one should have "supported" your action, but many were willing to let it go. I only wonder if anyone here dropped a dime on you. 🧐

I'm a little surprised at PSA's reaction. It was a major oversight on their part. Whatever security checks they have in place to prevent doctored cards apparently had a major failure. Maybe they could have bought it back as a lesson learned for them. Black Sharpie on a brown background and they didn't catch it? 😬

99.9% of the people who doctor cards won't be so open about it. Dr. Joey in a weak moment is far from their biggest threat. ;)

You're right. A few did support me.
I can definitely bet on it!
Probably, more than one had "dropped a dime" on me.

Now you'll have to get your wife to submit for you.

I think at the end of the day you dont have to look at this as such a bad thing. If you take ten steps back and look at it unemotionally from a number of different angles, its probably easy to see it as a positive. It can be very challenging to find that perfect balance of submitting the right types of cards to PSA where your costs and your grading results make you a financial winner.

Many have thrown in the towel because they dont see the path where continuing to acquire the types of raw cards they like and submitting them for grading has them feeling like they won, that they are ahead from the standpoint of dollars invested with cards and fees and value of assets after PSA has completed grading.

You can still open all the packs you want. Then if you want a card in a certain grade you can just purchase it on eBay or some other way. Often financially that will have you ahead, buying for example a $50 $100 $200 already graded card instead of buying packs hoping you pull a card then paying grading fees and shipping and hoping you get your grade.

The ripping is fun. I get it. You dont have to stop. But if you want graded cards, you can skip all the steps and cut to the chase and guarantee a win.

I for one did not rat.

Perhaps your foray into the hobby should be short lived.

What I mean by that is :
    1) you are now on record as a Card alterer.

    2) you traded your largest diamond, the Skenes, mostly for a half a pile of beans.

    3) you may have done that deal in order to fuel what may very well be an addiction that has already or will have fiscal impact to your life.

I do hope you don't not confuse those paying you lip service here as being supportive. Some folks enjoy good train wreck. I do not.

I have wrote what I think you need to hear, not what you want to hear. So call me mean...fine...but know I am hoping you take heed so things won't get worse.

Folks go ahead and flame away :(

    Yeah, I get it bro.
Even the "spending" aspect, as opposed to the just buying it already graded.
    My point of view,
    The grading game.
I'm not doing bad (excluding, the alteration).
Out of all my submissions thus far, only approx. 18 cards. Many "9's" and 3 or 4, "10's".
Plus, I'm aware of the cost for the chase spending!
But many would agree with me on this...

I'm willing to cough up the extra cash to find that exciting

    GEM!

    Thank you.

What does this even mean? The guy tried to pull a fake-out on PSA, crowed about it here, referenced his sigline and practically BEGGED them to ban him. He hardly cares about being a tidy little card collector. But, he received lots of attention and a pat on the back, so if that makes him happy, then bravo Joey. Glad you had fun.

    GEM!

You are free, of course, to do what you want, but this is the part I have a little trouble understanding.

You found your GEM!, but you immediately traded it away for more chances to find another "gem".

The cards that you got for your gem didn't seem to yield much, and you're busy burning through the cash you got on other boxes.

If you make a big score at the card table or the slot machine and you pick up your winnings and go home, you've won. But if you sit there and continue playing then you will absolutely end up losing it all. The house always wins in the end.

That's just my view. Feel free to carry on as you wish. :)

Who clipped the corner off of the Griffey in the holder? PSA? That's their solution after they realized they screwed up?

If so, then that is surprising. If they find an alteration, don't they normally just send the card back ungraded?

In another thread it was shown the OP hacksawed it off. Props on the clean cut

Uh no...Joey clipped the corner. PSA never found the alteration and Joey bragged about it. In this forum.

After we pointed out that altering a card was unethical in this hobby, he clipped the slab to make things right.

As a result of his actions, PSA has banned him from sending cards in.

I dont think its hard to comprehend. I think all the words I used can be found in the dictionary.

I think you bring up an interesting point even if its judgemental.

I'm very willing to give people encouragement for their pursuits and collecting. But its more of a glad you are appreciating the hobby angle. I will say, even though I have offered Joey encouraging words, Joey you are not ahead financially in terms of what you have spent and what you got back in terms of value of raw cards/graded cards. Its the case with so many so why bring it up in this case.

If you open 80s or earlier vintage sports packs, you lose monetarily. If you open modern packs, you play enough you lose. Its all just like the casino. You can win. But they want you to come back because if you do, they will get their money back and then some. You keep playing you lose. If you were/are in the set registry, you aren't ahead. You probably dont care. But its not a money-making proposition. If you buy raw cards 80s and earlier and submit them to PSA to grade the last 2 years, you are probably not ahead.

I just think if you are going to say Joey maybe stop doing this, you are not ahead, look in the mirror. Many of us have made bad financial decisions playing the card game because it makes us happy. That is how we want to spend our money. But certainly could have made wiser financial decisions.

I think part of the sentiment of being against Joey is not because he put a mark on a card that ended up with a sales value of $26. Which hardly feels like the crime it was made out to be here. I think it was just an opportunity to be upset and take a stand because you only want people on these boards to talk about Thurman Munson cards and judge whether a 1973 card with print spots was worthy of the grade it received. I think a lot of it is some people dont want to see 2023 2024 2025 Topps opened here. Its supposed to be old stuff only. Even though PSA probably wants that type of discussion more than what actually is discussed here. So any chance to throw a dart, go for it if not a five decades ago discussion.

The comment in bold reeks of ignorance. But, whatever. If it's directed at me. I'm not against Joey. I feel bad for him because he seemingly has a gambling problem, or something obsessive.

The common complaint around here is how wrong PSA is with their methods and grading results. It certainly doesn't help matters any to make a mockery of them and then publicize it.

I get a kick out of the drama and those who perpetuate it. That's why I keep coming back. ;)
