Early Latin American Silver coin

This was given to me by my father many years ago. The wear is due to it being used as a teether back in the day. Of course my father, at times, was a bit of a joker. I can't make sense of it because it's so worn, but I would love to know anything someone here may be able to tell me. The photos are poor, but not as bad as the coin itself. ;). TIA!

The design does not look Latin American (Mexico,Peru, Guatemala and the like) it looks more like a coin minted in Spain. I could be wrong lets see what others have to say. I am no expert just my gut felling based on design.

It’s a France Louis XV ecu.

Definitely French. perhaps not a whole ecu, but something smaller, perhaps a half. The date seems to be 1727.

    Appreciating the feedback here!

As Colonialcoin said it does look like a a France Louis XV ecu. I just assumed Latin America.

Sapyx... I'm not sure what you mean by "perhaps not a whole ecu"? Is that in regards to diameter or is that a term I am not familiar with? BTW I should have given a rough diameter, but forgot to. It's one and a half inches across.

See I was wrong (said it could be from Spain) but was confident it was not Latin American. So it seems it is French based on what others are saying here.

An ecu is basically a dollar sized coin and a 1/2 ecu is a half dollar sized coin. The 1/2 ecu is a tad bit scarcer. These coins circulated in colonial America.
