Beneath the waves in the ocean deep,
Where secrets lie and shipwrecks sleep,
The SS Central America sank one night,
Lost to a storm in a watery fight.

A hundred souls and treasure grand,
Gold from the mines of a distant land,
Down it went with a mighty roar,
To rest forever on the ocean floor.

But from that wreck, a coin was borne,
Heavy and bright, ringing like a horn.
A large gold piece, so pure, so fine,
Stamped with a date from a distant time.

Mined from hills where the rivers run,
Melted and cast in the western sun,
It journeyed east on that fated trip,
Till the storm took down the mighty ship.

Now held in hands with history deep,
It whispers tales the waters keep.
Of gold and glory, fate and fear—
A sunken dream that reappeared.

It's all about what the people want...
