Is the NFL starting to mirror the NBA in regard to the last 5 minutes of game time?

The past year and into this year it seems if you watch the last 5 minutes that is when the game is the most telling. I still enjoy the action of a full game, but most seem to be decided then. Not many 21+ point leads anymore with a few minutes of game time left. Could be parity related or???

It's getting to the point where the team with the ball last will win if they need a FG and there is a minute on the clock, it's almost automatic if they got multiple time outs

Seemed like in the past, there used to be a few of these high scoring, crazy ending, 4th quarters a season. Now it seems like there are a few of these every week?

I wonder if blindly playing the live over, going into the 4th quarter, of a low scoring game, could result in an overall profit? Finding a holy grail in sports betting can't be that easy, right? But I'll have to start following that angle, just for the yell of it.

While we're on this subject, would counting down tenths of a second in the last minute of a football quarter/half do any good or make any real difference?

it also seems no lead is ever safe. teams can seemingly drive down the field in < 1 minute, and guys are kicking field goals like never before. 60+ yards.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I said it before and believe it more than ever. Just watch the last 3 minutes of the NFL games. Eagles, Jets,Cleve.

And the new kick off rules only make it worse… seems like drives are starting routinely at the 30-35 now

A conspiracy theorist might think they're trying to keep people watching the entire game for advertising dollars...

I think they have a red zone channel or service that covers all plays when within the 20 yard line. Perhaps create a service that just zeros in on the last 2 minutes. Save us time for more refreshments. 🍺🍸🥤🍿🍕
