Being a fan, Any transition to another Team stories??
Hi guys,
I have a very interesting story about myself, concerning switching baseball Teams to root for! Many years ago, I'm old now, I been a Cub fan since I was born! Then, up until 1984, when they broke my darn heart once again.
When they really blew it in the playoffs, against the San Diego Padres. They were up, 2 games to none. In the best of 3!
Well, I don't have to tell ya anymore how that turned out, they
LOST!
YEP!
That was the last straw!
I gave the Cubs one more chance.
One more year!
So, in 1985. Wouldn't you know it.
Once again, terrible year.
So, I decided to go across the state and give the long time rivals, the ST.LOUIS CARDINALS, a try!
😆 Yes, the worse Cubs enemy! 😆
My mother and family was furious with me! Not only by giving up on the
poor Cubbies. But to throw salt in the wound, by joining the Cardinals!
Well, I think the REDBIRDS made me much more happy in the 40 years than the Chicago Cubs did!
Sure, there was that miracle year of 2016 when they FINALLY did it!
But that was 31 miserable years after that devastating year of,1984, when they choaked!
I would had to wait that much longer for them to finally please me and make me happy.
Look how many goals the Cardinal's
achieved since 1985!
The many Divisional titles, Pennants and World Series WINS!
Yep, my REDBIRDS Baby!
Here's the best part.
In 1984, when the Cubs were in San Diego, I was at the Cubbie Bear Lounge, across the street from Wrigley Field, with my family. Hoping they would WIN so we can be right there to celebrate the CUBS finally going to the
World Series! With my Champaign Bottle in hand!
But NOooooooooooo!
Instead, I was on National News, as well as, Local News,
"Pouring out my Champaign Bottle
in the street"
Yes, I was too sickened to drink a drop!
😆🤣😂
Here is that sad moment, that would later turn into a Bliss of Happiness, from the
St. Louis Cardinals, happy transition!
Do any of you guys have a "team transition" story to tell too?
Thanks Everyone!

That's when I was 27, now, I'm 68!
😆
Oh! The bad thing is,
My Dear Cardinals, as of late.
Our doing what those 84 Cubs, were doing,
BREAKING MY HEART!
Bad team lately!

I was born and raised a Dodgers fan here in L.A. Our family was connected to the team through support provided by our company sponsorship, so I definitely felt the joy of being a fan, but by 1977 and 1978 I was frustrated by seeing my guys lose to the Yankees back-to-back and being a rebellious teenager contributed to my eventual decision to turn my back on the locals. In the summer of '79 I spent several weeks living in another great city with a close friend whose family owned a home in the rural section of town. I fell irreparably in love with a place that captured my heart and along with it, the local major league baseball team.
I've been a hard core fan of the Chicago Cubs, as well as da Bears, ever since. The summer I spent in Chicago in 1979 changed my life. Ultimately, for the better. I've been back many times since, for various reasons, and always, ALWAYS have a wonderful visit.
1984 was a heartbreaker. And 1988. And 2003. And 2008. But not 2016.
Awesome story, dude!
You hung on, I couldn't!
😆
Yeah, those Yanks were unbeatable in the 70's
Congrats

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.i have pretty much always rooted for the local new england sports teams, but i have rooted for individual players throughout the years who did not play for those teams. I remember as a kid/teenager that my favorite football player, BY FAR was Dan Marino. LOVED watching him play, even though he played for a division rival. I always rooted for a pats win, but 4 TDs for danny!!
in fact, to this day he is my second favorite football player of all time. I have yet to see another QB with as good a arm talent as dan the man.
holy cow could he sling it!!
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I have stuck with the Patriots and Red Sox since I was a kid when they were not good, the only other team I really ever rooted for was the Dallas Cowboys as a kid because I was a Tony Dorsett fan, I am happy to see the Bruins and Celtics do well but never invested too much into them as far as caring too much
Yes, I agree with Dan's talent but, with regret, then the fact he has no ring!
What a shame!
If my memory serves me correctly, the Dolphins, with Dan, was the only team to stop the undefeated season for my Bears!

Sorry.

"Bury the Bears" didn't happen 😂😂😂
Ive never had an actual switch, but when the Chargers moved to LA I stopped caring about them. In generally Ive always rooted more for players than teams
Fire AJ Preller
I live in North Carolina, so naturally I'm a Panthers fan. Well, year, after year, after year, they disappoint me. But I stick with them. You know, it's funny, we had this quarterback years ago, his name was Cam Newton, he was very entertaining. He would wear crazy outfits, he carried a purse and had a pair of high heels. I miss him.
I can't see any other Quarterbacks acting like Cam.
Can you imagine McMahon, Brady or Marino in these heels?
😆🤣😂

The Aaron Rodgers cowboy outfit was pretty epic.
😆
Yeah, he does look like "Woody", Tom Hanks character in Toy Story!
