Half grades anyone?

I just had my first couple of subs pop this week and I notice out of 400+ cards graded I got just 1 .5 grade. And it wasn’t even a high grade card it was a 6.5 lol. I also got several Oc grades and the cards were not even Oc to be honest. Are they saving those for reviews now or something? All cards were pre 1979. I bring this up because I thought they mainly got ride of qualifier grades. But my orders made it look like the complete opposite. Also this was not 1 order but 3 different orders total. I’m completely lost with vintage grading. Has anyone had any luck with review grading for bumps lately? I sent in 10 of my best and went 0for10 over 2 years ago and have not tried again. Sigh

Not recently. My last review bump was two (2) years ago in September 2023 when a 1963 Roger Maris bumped from a PSA-8.5 to a PSA-9. Initially...I had crossed the card from a BVG-9 to PSA-8.5 with the card sent to PSA slabbed in a BVG holder. Here is the card today.
52/48 centered should either be .5 or 10. period. this is why the mba dude is making money because psa refuses to recognize centering as the main reason people buy a particular card. review a bunch of 1987 - 1991 topps psa 10's offered mainly by 4sc. 50% of them are what most of us would be considered -- not centered.
the inconsistency is kind of mind boggling to mt. should be the easiest thing to grade for most offerings. but the grading companies have a decently rough time trying to figure it out.
My experience is that it’s always rare to get a bump on an in-holder review. Results on crack and re-sub are better. I’ve had 3 upgrades in slab in 2025 and many crack upgrades. What makes this unimpressive is the quantity that I’ve submitted which don’t bump. Some cards take multiple tries to get the grade I think they deserve. Some never do. Some which had grades then become altered only to receive a grade the next time.
I had a 78T Murray go from
SGC 8 to PSA authentic to PSA 9. Fool me once I’ll pay you twice.

I used to have a great deal of success with reviews. About a year ago I sent in 26 cards and received one bump. That was the end of that for me.

I stopped a few years ago. At first I stopped getting bumps as much and then they just all started coming back trimmed, altered, etc (and still charged me).
I learned my lesson too.
half grades are rare, especially on lower end (value) stuff. it's more for the high end. Qualifiers and their "lack of existence" has no effect on half grades.
