A Tale of Two Coins...1895 B Trade Dollar

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. And one coin survived in a reasonably nice state while the other served its intended purpose for trade in the Orient. The British Trade Dollar, introduced in 1895 and minted in Bombay, features Britannia standing majestically with a shield and trident. And there is a ship in the background that captures the British naval tradition. The obverse design would later influence the short-lived Britannia design featured on the florin during the reign of Edward VII.
The first is Prid-1and survived as struck
The second is Prid-2 and survived trade in the Orient collecting several chop marks along the way. Clearly this one served the intended purpose. I have not seen many 1895 Trade Dollars in either state of preservation as shown here.
The difference between Prid 1 and 2 is at the trident.

Nice write-up
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Totally agree. Very cool. Cardinal would have that put in a PCGS dual holder.
A great associated pair! The unchopped one is a real beauty.
