1982 no mint mark small date penny . Weight 2.59 grams

in Q & A Forum
I have Lincoln 1982 no mint mark small date penny . Weight 2.59 grams. Does not stick to magnets.
How can a penny made of copper-plated zinc weigh 2.59 grams when it should be 2.5 grams?
Can you explain?

Simple, the mint +- tolerance is .12g so anywhere between 2.38g and 2.62g is acceptable.
2.5g is only the target weight. Yours is well within the tolerance.
The tolerance weight explained above is very well done.
Save that 1982 small date zinc, to fill that spot (1 of 8 ?).
She's a looker.
Now match the other 7 1982's to this one and see what happens.
Cool.
There is clearly .09g of dirt on the coin. I'm not sure how you missed that.
From Piri: "Money isn't dirty."
Because the coin is clean, it shines, and the photos don't turn out well. Therefore, I am sending new photos taken with a special camera, (as can be seen in the weighing photos, the coin is clean and shiny).
New photos aren’t going to the change the fact that there is nothing wrong with the weight of your cent.
Clean or dirty, it is still within tolerance.

"Moe, Larry, the cheese", it's Déjà vu all over again
Déjà vu, or "already seen" in French, is a feeling of false familiarity where a new situation feels like it's been experienced before. This phenomenon is likely caused by a temporary glitch in the brain's memory processing, possibly a brief miscommunication between brain areas responsible for recognition and memory, such as the temporal lobes and hippocampus. While often harmless, frequent or intense experiences of déjà vu may, in some cases, be a symptom of a neurological familiarity that only comfort foods can neutralize.
YOu can take all the photos you want, but that isn't going to change your coin.
From Piri:
As Greenstang said, whether it's clean or dirty, the weight of my coin is within tolerance. I have no problem with it. Thank you for your comments Greenstang. However, the reason I'm sending new photos is to show that being heavier than the target weight is not due to dirt.
I’m sure that Morgan White was kidding with you when he said that it was due to .09g of dirt.
