Neaple kingdom, piastra (120 grano) 1748

I have a question about the edge type of the Neapolitan piastre of 1748 with the river god and Vesuvius.
The sources available to me say that this type has an inscription on the edge.

I had a specimen of this year with a smooth edge. In the discussion, the opinion was expressed that the type of this coin with a smooth edge is a variety, that is, this specimen was issued in circulation with this type of edge.

Unfortunately, this discussion is in the morning. Therefore, I kindly ask you to express your opinion on the edge of these coins - is it gradually issued by the mint or not?
