1971 OPC Hockey Reggie Leach PSA 8

Just in case anyone was watching this on eBay, Greg Morris has this card on their auction as a consignment and it’s a little under $1100 with nine days left. I know it’s a low pop in high grade, but it might surpass the Lafleur and Dryden in the same grade when the auction is done. I figure it’s a registry collection battle. Thoughts?

Last PSA 8 sold for $600 so for the price to be double that with 9 days to go is a little fishy to me. Could be a bidding war, could be shilling.

1971-72 is a very popular set (maybe the most popular?) so the demand is there, but I didn't know that Reggie Leach was a 4 figure card. I don't know as much about OPC hockey as I do OPC baseball. Still a great looking card. I would pass on this one and hope another one comes up in the future after these guys are done shilling/competing with each other.

Most recent sale was on May 13th of this year, a nicely centered PSA 8 example sold for $1073.98, so the bidding is not unusual. This card in high grade rarely comes up for auction. A PSA 9 sold for $2095 last month, kinda cheap actually. Prior sales on a PSA 8 date back to 2021 (the $600 example) and a PSA 9 hadn't been seen since 2017. I'd venture a guess the bidding may not be over for the card being questioned here and there will be at least 3 bidders in on it.

    Farewell Ryno.
