They probably edited the images to remove them so no one can put it in their registry sets because it can be a pain to remove them from someones elses registry set.
No edits to the image... itspretty easy to have coins removed from the registry...
This is what the seller wrote back in 5 different replies:
Collectors Universe is PCGS. I have attached info or you can Google the same.
It shows Collectors Universe on the reverse of the holder. I have no idea why they did that, other than this is an old label or before some other change at PCGS.
I will put this information in the listing as other may have the same question. Thanks for bringing it my attention and have a good day.
I have been a dealer for over 50 years and this is how coins are certified sometimes. Most probably prior to PCGS having a details grade. ALL Jay Roe pieces were certified by PCGS only, decades ago. This was not the only piece certified by Collectors Universe from the Jay Roe collection at that time. There are many others.
I have included photos from the original Jay Roe B&M auction 2003 reference showing the plate photo of the Roe piece compared to the PCGS holder in my listing. The two coins show identical markings, albeit the auction reference photo is much nicer than mine. There is no doubt this is the same Jay Roe piece as certified by PCGS. I hope that helps

This reminds me of the "museum slabs" like Smithsonian type slabs where special museum holders were made by NGC for the collection that can be opened when coins need to be accessed but none were graded.
