I watched the game live. The kid is legit. He's leading the MLB in nearly every offensive category for July. First rookie and first in the nomad Athletics history to hit 4 HRs in a game. It looked like Jacob Wilson was a lock for ROY earlier in the year, I don't think that's true anymore.

Even I could of hit a HR off that last pitcher throwing batting practice.

So that somehow discounts what the kid did? Shawn Green hit his 4th off of Jose Cabrera, who wasn't exactly a paragon of pitching.

This stat line is probably best-ever single game line. That double he hit was probably 2 inches from being a HR. Mark Whiten drove in 12 in his 4 HR game, but he went 4-5.

Nate Colbert had a monster doubleheader I remember like 6 HRs or something like that

His double may have been the hardest hit ball he had. Missed a 5th home run by a few feet

Remember Tuffy Rhodes? He had a multiple Hr binge one spring. Wound up in Japan.

He hit more home runs in one game than Jazz Chisholm hit in the entire Home Run Derby.

lol, and I’m a Yankee fan but you are correct

In 2018 Brock Holt became the first player ever to hit for the cycle in a playoff game. His final hit - the HR - was off of a Yankees position player. Still counts the same.

To a degree it does. Go back and look at Cooper Hummel’s 78 mph batting practice pitch to Kurtz and then go look at video of Jose Cabrera’s pitch to Shawn Green for his fourth home run. The difference in effort between the two pitching efforts is night and day.

You still have to hit the ball out.
