This is absolutely insane. A collector could purchase 660,000 1990 Fleer Baseball wax boxes for the same amount of money. What a waste.
Hey wait I have cases of 1990 Fleer Baseball!
I always said they could still be useful as firewood

For those of us at a certain age I remember all the similar conversations when the Honus Wagner sold for over a million.
After all this time I don't even pretend to think I can predict how much a card will (or will not) be worth in the future. People are going to pay what they want for what they want.
Congratulations to this seller and buyer for both getting what they wanted.

Unreal someone would pay that for a new modern card. Nuts.

Recent issues regardless of sport or player are not sound future inestments. How good were 6 fig spends on manufactured scarce Trout and Zion cards for example
P.S. IMHO to be considered a sound investment it must at minimum exceeds SP500 in time frame of ownership.
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)

I'm guessing this is for publicity or a short term flip. I would not pay 10% of that price if it was mandated that I had to keep it for at least 10 years.
