Or will he end up stuck similar to Carlos Delgado?

He has two more years on his contract, then a third with a team option to buy out. So really he only has two more years because they will buy him out of his last one.

He might only have one. He makes 29 million next year(2026) with the Marlins paying 10 million of that. Then in 2027 he makes 25 million with the Marlins paying 10 million of that. I say it is 50/50 he gets released in 2027 under that deal unless he has a big 2026 season.

With the way MLB works now with not paying old veterans that might be it for him.

I think he will get another contract as long as hes willing to take less money especially with the DH in both leagues now.

He definitely isnt doing himself any favors the last few years other than HR numbers. He reminds me a bit of Andruw Jones where he had a decade of dominance, but I think with the standards that have been set I think he will get in

    Forgot about Carlos Delgado

Regarding the HOF just put everyone in who ends up with a career BA of .280 and 300 HR's, might as well at this point

Stanton has 400 + HR's but has a . 260 career BA which I'm sure will plummet a bit if he does the typical. hang around thing like alot of these guys do past their prime

I am thinking his case is going to rest heavily on him getting 500 HR.

Yes, if he plays for peanuts.

I agree with Swell that it will hinge on the 500 HR mark, I would make it a slam dunk if he can combine that 500 HR with 2K plus hits. It depends on his health which has unfortunately been an issue for him throughout his career.

Theres been guys a lot worse then him that get 1 year 10 mil type contracts assuming he doesnt have a career ending injury. His injuries really started piling up when he decided to get so muscle bound

He's had one good year since... 2018. And that's setting the bar low for "good" - .240 with 10 homers.

I dunno, I feel like he hasn't done enough.

Wonder if he gets in and wins a WS with the Yankees, where he really shines, would help his chances.

Well Judge is having his elbow imaged today and cant throw from the outfield so you can pretty much count the WS part out for this year if judge needs TJ
