I contemplated posting a notice similar to this, but what happens if I decide to start selling again on BST in the future? How would anyone know if it's me, or a hacker who is saying "all clear, I'm selling again?

This whole thing needs to be investigated and resolved.

PCGS can prevent users from opening a 2nd account by identifying the ip addresses. Any password changes by longstanding accounts or posts from a different ip address than the one on file should be flagged. and checked out.

I agree. Many of the regulars here, and certainly those in the “circle of trust” are aware of the recent scams going on. I’m sure both sellers and buyers would be flexible on providing specific pics by request. Maybe only use regular PayPal and just factor the fee into the price of the item. Atleast until things settle down.

FaceTime can be helpful. I recently sold a few gold coins on Facebook and don’t have much history there even though I was vetted. The buyer was concerned I might be a fraud so he FaceTimed me and that alleviated any concerns.

The management may decide to just stop giving members the option of a BST platform. That would end the problems of scams wouldn't it?

At best, an IP address only reveals the user's service provider. The IP address method is not reliable since both IP addresses and MAC addresses can be easily spoofed.

U can also use a proxy and vpn. I myself use one all the time. Disguises IP like magic
