Heritage Auction...Ending July 11/12...Share your Observations and Winnings

I sat this auction out having consigned 9 lots to fund earlier winnings in its last auction (1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson RC SGC-5 and 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig PSA-6). Two lots of mine set record prices for the given grade: 1970 Nolan Ryan PSA-9 $13,420 and a 1967 Brooks Robinson PSA-9 $4900...and a 1962 Bob Gibson PSA-8.5 sold for $5250...exceeding a Heritage estimate of $3000.
Sales were strong with new records or near records set on a number of cards. Here are records which smashed old records:
1953 Bowman Color Yogi Berra PSA-9 $55,000...1956 Sandy Koufax Gray Back PSA-9 $51,000+...1961 Carl Yastrzemski PSA-9 $11,000+...and a 1962 McCovey PSA-9 $4750. Here are two more record prices: 1933 Goudey Jimmie Foxx PSA-7 $14640 (previous record $5,000)...1941 Play Ball Joe Dimaggio PSA-8 $109,000+.
There were noticeable bidding and interest on PSA-10s from the 1970s and 1980s.

I paid through the nose to grab this “Upside Down Defense” Tim Horton. Been searching for one for about 10 years, so I’m pumped to scratch this one off the list.
Thx for sharing...Beautiful card!
Had my eye on several unopened items from the 70s but ended up passing this time. They seemed to sell at reasonable prices.
I was watching this and bid up to $1350 and bowed out lol! Very rare card and congrats on the pickup!
Tim Horton bottom left corner flipped up damage looks very familiar
. Super rare card for sure.
I thought the 1953 bowman sheet went for a song. I forgot to bid again on it. Also Gifford PSA 9 went for 40k. I like mine better .
Yeah, the flipped up corner on the Horton is a bummer. Jason at Heritage posted the card on his instagram when the card was raw, and that flipped up corner wasn’t there.
Congrats on the high sales $! I
I cannot believe 1967 Brooks is that low for a 9. That card is impossible to find with even decent centering and is a high number short print. I paid up for my 8 at the time and it took me years to find one that looked good.
Congrats on the Horton!
Sat this one out only willing to buy for a discount so I have $ for The National. Trying to work a private deal for a card and the fresh comp from Heritage could help me land it. Meeting up with owner of the card at the Natty so hopeful! Sent him the screenshot of the sale last night.
Doesn’t seem like Heritage raising the juice for buyers from 20% to 22% has hurt sellers! I know one AH followed suit so far but don’t remember which one.
I sat this one out too but saw that PSA Foxx when it felt so low, maybe just 1900. Last Heritage I won Foxx PSA 6 but I was thinking sometimes you can have enough of a good thing. Decided if it stayed low I may consider it. But it did not. 😄 Very nice example outside of the centering. Seems to have a clarity others dont.
Trying to take a little break on big sportscard purchases but saw the PSA 9 72 Bench late and felt it looked perfect outside of a small print issue which didn't bother me much. Was not sure I could resist but laid off. May regret it.
On the Tim Horton ,any idea why the F, N, S are backwards. Are all the cards like that.
Only Heritage and Goldin have a buyers premium of 22%…
No, the inverted DEFENSE was corrected fairly early. I’m aware of 2 others: a PSA 4 that sold on PWCC many years ago, and a SGC3 I saw in the pop report. I’m sure a few others floating around.
I reached out to PSA and they told me they’d reholder the card with the “Inverted Text” designation because they’re now recognizing it. Hopefully they don’t flip any more corners on the reholder!
i noticed some great prices for unopened boxes for sale.
