the only thing more interesting than Verlander's 15 starts & an 0-7 record & an ERA sniffing 5 is the fact that i know he's had 15 starts & has an 0-7 record & an ERA sniffing 5. what, am i so freaking bored that i'm actually keeping up with baseball ?

i see the Giants GM got drunk one night & overlooked his negative WAR from last season & shoved a 1-yr/15 meelyun dollah contract in front of his face. perhaps he has dyscalculia and reversed the 4 and 2 in his age, idk ? probably thinks Markieff Morris faked his injury too ?

whatever the case may be, that's a beauteous return on investment right there

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Maybe the GM signed Verlander, just so he could possibly get a slow dance with Kate Upton at a team office party?

I have been following Verlander this year. I wonder if he retires after the season. He really really wants to get to 300 wins, but he is over halfway through his age 42 season and has yet to add even one to his total. He will not get to 300.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

    He should've never left Houston!

Worst wagering strategy of the 2025 MLB season:

Well I lost a dime on Verlander winning his first game. I'll just Martingale the bets until he wins one.

I look forward to the MLB playoffs.

Mainly because by then, football season is well underway. LOL

@galaxy27 (Totally unrelated to Mr. Kate Upton's horrible performances of late)
Did the floods down there affect you at all?

not where i am. it was an area NW of San Antonio. last i read, 121 had perished and there are still 170 or so unaccounted for, so it's going to be a big figure.

some of the time-elapse shots of the Guadalupe River were surreal. i saw one where it rose 20-25 feet and turned into a raging monster in a half hour.

Clark Hunt (KC Chiefs owner) lost his 9-year-old niece in the flood. his wife has made some powerful posts on social media since then.

I completely forgot you were in Texas , my apologies for not asking if you and your family were ok

Glad you are out of the affected area

    Tragic situation and very sad

Its good to hear that your area didn't get hit which has to be a small blessing. That must have been horrible news for the Hunt's and all of those families that lost loved ones.

That link mentions that the camp had 750 children there when the flooding started and I can't even imagine what it must have been like for not only all of those kids but all of their parents who weren't with them.

Sadly I guess as ya get older, you experience and read so much about various tragedies, you sort of get a bit used to it.

Not this time though. Thinking about what happened to those many innocent children, breaks my heart. I tear-up every time I read about it as I'm doing now. 😥

His record should be better than it is. Hes obviously not the same as he was and nearing the end of his career being old and the TJ surgery, but hes really only had a couple of bad starts. He has more quality starts than he does bad ones. It was a good gamble but the Giants are one of the worst fielding teams in the league

Wouldn't his FIP be better if his struggles were related to poor defense? He's looked absolutely terrible this season. I do hope he figures it out but I guess this is why we have experts on these forums to tell us what our eyes can't.

Never said he was a superstar but the Giants defense is in like the bottom 5 of the league. His days of being an ace are over but hes been a solid middle rotation guy that has a bunch of slow guys and the Giants arent giving him run support. Most of his losses they scored 2 runs or less

This was an unthinkable horror for those families impacted by the loss of their loved ones, especially the children.
    God help them all.

I never make donations, I did this time.

There’s part of me that thinks…. Who would have ever thought something like this could happen in a flood plain.

If you have a good defense yes. Right center is brutal for hitters and they beat the Phillys not to long ago on a little league inside the park home run that hit off the brick. That ball would have been gone everywhere but SD to be fair. But when you have a big outfield having slow outfielders the pitchers get blamed when they cant get to the ball.

Webbs in his prime and hes a stud so he can overcome it. Ray puts up some really good seasons here and there but will be curious how that finishes. Other than a couple guys their bullpen isnt that great.

Either way you arent going to win a lot of games if your only getting 2 runs of support from your offense in the modern game and more than 10 percent of the runs you give up are from errors

He hasn’t been good in most of his starts. I hope he figures it out. Blame it on defense or run support and sure he could have a few wins. Probably should. But he’s been bad. Below league average.
