that looks like 1817 and "G" but a search says "G" was not active in 1817
I'm a bit at a loss
can someone identify it and estimate its value
they aren't my pictures and are from someone on the us coin forum who received the coin as part of an inheritance

There were no "G" mint marks on this type of coin. May be "Q"?
