Insuring when shipping to PSA

Beena long time since I had anything graded. Are people paying for extra insurance when shipping to PSA. I know most labels online only inusure up to 5k, but what if the cards are valued at more?

Document, Document, Document then ship via USPS Registered Mail w/Full insurance. Then pray you have lived a clean life as PSA will ship back to you via Fedex thus well within plausibility that the cards will never get back to you.
IMHO if the cards are very valuable rent a PO box for a few months and have PSA return ship to it. Then you will be able to sleep much easier. OR use SGC who will return via USPS out of concern for their customers.
After yet another FedEx debacle last month that took years off my life, i let PSA have a piece of my mind. Which now leaves me with precious little left...

So PSA doesnt insure back, or offer you to pay to have insured back?
So how does a PO box help?
And if yu use your own registered mail shipping TO psa insured, what happens when it's time to ship it back? Do they contact you and ask you to pay to have shipped back?
Fed Ex does not ship to PO Boxes...so USPS would have to be used.
So basically, I can ship them registered, but on the way back, they dont offer to insure full value or anything? And since using my own label to ship to them, they'll contact me to charge me for shipping?
Or when I ship registered, I include a return label or something?
You should look into getting a collectibles insurance policy which would cover packages up to 60K if shipped via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail Express with signature confirmation and is typically cheaper (and better) than postal insurance. CIS is a collectibles insurance company that many collectors use and they are easy to work with and will ensure your collection at home also if you have an alarm system or safe.

My 2024 1099K from eBay added sales prices before eBay fees and s&h charges to arrive at the $5,000+ figure. Then, it itemized my expenses as transaction fees and shipping labels, which were deductions from my sales in reporting the income.
Before I received the 1099K, I had assumed I would not meet the threshold unless my sales less commissions exceeded the amount.

To clarify, my charges for S&H were included in in total sales.

FedEx has been mentioned as problematic but it’s a bit more nuanced. FedEx express has a stellar rating while FedEx ground has issues. Most people will tell you this is because their drivers are contractors and that’s part of the problem but it’s not the whole story. I select shipping service for my PSA orders and they are delivered and returned using FedEx Express. Anything overnight or 2nd day is going to be express.
Oops! I meant to post on the 1099K thread and not this one. Don't know how to move it over there.

So PSA decides how they want to ship them back to you if you select the option for them to send them back to you, they charge based on declared value of the total order (if you have a PO box, then they can't choose FedEx). If they choose USPS it will be priority (assuming you don't have them grading a Honus Wagner or something), but usually they choose FedEx signature required.
They don't "purchase" insurance with each package. They either self-insure or have a master policy of some type. If something happens or the package goes MIA, PSA will pay you out based on the declared value of the submission or the current market value of the card(s), which ever is less.
Insuring to PSA is sort of a lost cause because you have to show what you purchased the items for, not the market value, and of course for pack pulled cards, no such invoice exists, so you will never collect. If you have Collectinsure insurance, they will cover you if you follow the carrier and signature requirements. But you'll never get FedEx or USPS to pay out on a package sent to PSA.
Im not trying to ship to PSA to insure the graded value. I just want my purchase of raw cards that I'm grading that I bought, to be covered for what I paid ,so I can get my money back in case. Whatever PSA sends me back, and how its covered seems lke its either an option I choose whenthey are readyto be sent back? or they just send when ready and I hve no choice?
Another option not mentioned is having your cards sent straight to the PSA vault after grading.
No dealing with USPS, PO boxes, or FedEx.
I know some are for it and some against it, and I'm not starting a debate about the vault.
Some cards I'm glad I sent there, and others I wish I didn't.
I mention it only as a shipping option, and if vaulting is something you might consider.
CORRECT, You have no choice. Same goes with SGC and the allways to be avoided CGC. I do not know about Beckett.
